Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED, Article W 11.
2-1¼ oz. Skein White.    
  1-1¼ oz. Skein Yellow.
  ¾ Yd. 1 inch Ribbon.
  2 Small Buttons for  Eyes.
  Bone Crochet Hook No. 5  or No. 6.
  Kapok or Cotton for  filling.
BODY: With White, ch 2, work 8 s c in 1st st of ch (do not  join rounds).
    2nd Round. 2 s c in each s c.
    3rd Round. * 1 d c, 1 s c in next st, 1 d c in next st,  1 s c, 1 d c in next st, 1 sc in next st, repeat from * all around.
    4th Round. * 1 s c in each of the first 2 sts, 2 s c in  next st, repeat from * all round.
    5th Round. 1 d c in next st, 1 s c in next st,  (pattern) repeat from beginning all around.
    6th Round. * 1 s c in each of the first 3 sts, 2 s c in  next st, repeat from * all around. 
    7th Round. Work in pattern even.
    8th Round. * 1 s c in each of the first 4 sts, 2 s c in  next st, repeat from * all around.
    9th Round. Work in pattern even.
    10th Round. * 1 s c in each of the first 5 sts, 2 s c in  next st, repeat from * all around. 
    11th Round. Work in pattern even.
    12th Round. * 1 s c in each of the first 6 sts, 2 s c in  next st, repeat from * all around. 
    13th Round. Work in pattern even.
    14th Round. 1 s c in each st. Repeat 13th and 14th  rounds twice, then work 1 more round of pattern even. 
    20th Round. Start decreasing, work * 1 s c in each of  the next 6 sts, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, insert needle in  next st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on needle,  repeat from * 7 times (8 decreases). 
    21st Round. Work in pattern even.
    22nd Round. Decrease in every 6th and 7th st, then work  1 round of pattern even.
    24th Round. Decrease in every 5th and 6th st, then work 1  round of pattern even.
    26th Round. Decrease in every 4th and 5th st, then work  1 round of pattern even.
    28th Round. Decrease in every 3rd and 4th st, then work  1 round of pattern even.
    30th Round. Decrease in every 2nd and 3rd st, then work  1 round of pattern even, break yarn leaving a length about 12 inches for  sewing.
HEAD: With White, work the first 9 rounds the same as body.
    10th Round. 1 s c in each st, then work 1 round of pattern  even. Repeat the last 2 rounds once. 
    14th Round. Start decreasing following the 24th to 31st  rounds of body, break yarn leaving a 12 inch length for sewing.
LEGS: With Yellow, ch 2, work 8 s c in first st of ch, (foot).
    2nd Round. 2 s c in each s c, then work 1 round of pattern  even.
    4th Round. * 1 s c in next st, 2  s c in next st, repeat from * all around.
    5th Round. Work in pattern even.
    6th Round. 1 s c in each st,  then work 1 round of pattern even.
    8th Round. Work in s c,  decreasing in every 2nd and 3rd st, then work 1 round of pattern even.
    10th Round. Work the same as 8th  round.
    11th to 19th Rounds. Work in s c, working  in the back loop of st only, break yarn. Work another leg in the same manner.
WINGS: With Yellow, ch 17, work 16 s c on ch, ch 1, turn. Working the remainder in back loop of st only, 1 s c in each of the next 15 sts, ch 3, turn, 1 s c in first st of ch 3, 1 s c in each of the next 5 s c, * ch 1, turn, 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, ch 3, turn, 1 s c in the first st of ch 3, 1 s c in each of the next 4 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c on base, repeat from * 4 times, break yarn. Work 3 more wing sections in same manner.
BILL: With Yellow, ch 7, work 6 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row. Work 3 more rows of s c even, then decrease 1 st at the beginning of each row until 2 sts remain. Work 1 row of s c all around, break yarn. Work 1 more section in same manner.
HAT: With Yellow, work  same as first 7 rounds of leg, then work 1 round of s c even, join, ch 1, turn.
    9th Round. * 1 s c in next st, 1  d c in next st, ch 1, repeat from * all around.
    10th Round. * 1 s c in next s c,  1 s c in next d c, 1 s c under the ch 1, repeat from * all around, break yarn.
    To assemble Duck: Fill body, head and legs  with Cotton or Kapok. Thread the 12 inch length of wool of body into needle and  draw top together. Thread the 12 inch length of head into needle and draw  together, then sew the head to body. Sew the top of legs, place them in position  and sew to body as illustrated. Place two sections of wings at each side of  body and sew in position. Sew the 2 sections of bill in position. Sew 2 small  buttons for eyes. Sew hat in position. With White, ch 50, break yarn and tie  around hat.
