CHADWICK'S RED HEART SOCK & SWEATER YARN, 3 Ply, Shrink and-Stretch Resist Finish, Art. E.255: 20 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 12 Black; or

CHADWICK'S RED HEART ORLON "FASHION YARN," 3 Ply, Art. E.265: 21 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 858 Navy; or

CHADWICK'S RED HEART ORLON "FASHION-GLO," 3 Ply, Art. E.265-M: 24 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. M.12 Black; and

CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E.232: 27 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 515 Dk. Turquoise and 19 skeins of No. 848 Skipper Blue—for Afghan and Pillows.

Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hooks No. 3 and No. 5.

2 pillows, 18 inches square.

GAUGE: 4 sps make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.

STRIP (Make 4) … Starting at narrow edge with Black and No. 3 hook, ch 76. 1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across (36 sps). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, * dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 66 inches (198 rows). Break off.

WEAVING … Leaving a 5-inch length of yarn free, with Skipper Blue and No. 5 hook make a chain slightly longer than length of strip. Weave chain ver­tically through first row of sps. Break off, leaving a 5-inch length of yarn. With Turquoise make another chain the same way. Weave this chain through next row of sps, working under sps that were worked over previously. Continue working in this manner, alter­nating colors and ending with Turquoise.

FIFTH STRIP … With Black, ch 78. 1st row: Work as before, having 37 sps instead of 36. Complete strip as before, ending with Skipper Blue chain.
   Sew strips neatly together, having Skipper Blue chains on outer edges. Attach Black to first sp on long side and sc closely across. Break off. Sc across other long side to correspond.

TASSEL … Cut 2 strands of Skipper Blue, each 8 inches long. Draw these strands through end of first chain. Using these strands and the 5-inch length at end of chain, make a knot close to edge of afghan. Make a tassel with matching color at end of each chain. Complete other end to correspond. Trim ends evenly. Block to measurements.

PILLOW—Side (Make 2) … Make a strip of 36 sps and one of 37 sps, each 18 inches long. Complete as for afghan omitting tassel. Sew pieces together around 3 sides, insert pillow and sew remaining side.
   If desired, make another pillow, weaving with Dk. Turquoise only.
