REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of 3-ply Pompadour or
3-ply Nylon or Sport Yarn.
CROCHET HOOK: 1-Bone No. 3
RIBBON: 3-yards of narrow ribbon
⅔-yard of 4-inch satin for slip
8-inch Character Doll

   DOUBLE KNOT STITCH: ** Pull up a loop ¾-inches long, thread over and draw yarn through this loop, work 1 s c in space between loop and single crochet thread; repeat from ** once more.

   DRESS: Starting at the neck edge, make a chain of 18 sts, turn, 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 2 d c in each of the remaining chain sts (30 sts). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 1 d c in each of the next 5 sts, ch 1, skip 3 sts, 1 d c in next 12 sts, ch 1, skip 3 sts, 1 d c in next 5 sts, 1 d c in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: 1 d c in each st across row.

   SKIRT: Knot stitch part: * Make a dble knot st, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st; make a dble knot st, 1 s c in next st; repeat from * around. Now the work will be joined. 2nd row: Make a dble knot st, work 1 s c in center single crochet of knot st on row below; repeat from * around. Repeat last round until you have 7 rounds in all or 5 inches from waist line. Break thread. Sleeves: With right side of the work facing you, tie yarn in at lower edge of armhole. Chain 3, make 13 d c around armhole, join round. Break yarn. Make the other sleeve the same way.

   HAT: Chain 3 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring. Ch 3, make 14 d c into ring, join with a slip st in top of ch-3. 2nd row: Ch 3. * Make 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in next st; repeat from * around once. 3rd row: Make a double knot stitch in each d c around. Break yarn and fasten off.

   FINISHING: Gather 3-inch ribbon to fit waist. Draw tight and fasten off. Run a narrow piece of ribbon at waist line and tie in a bow. Sew up back of dress. Cut narrow ribbon into pieces long enough to tie into bows on bottom of skirt as in illustration.
