REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of 3-ply Sport or Nylon
25-yards of contrasting color
CROCHET HOOK: 1 bone No. 3

   COAT: Starting at the neck edge, chain 18 sts, turn; 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 2 d c in each remaining chain st (30 sts). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each st across row. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 d c in 4 sts, ch 8, skip 4 sts, 1 d c in next 12 sts, ch 8, skip 4 sts, 1 d c in last 5 sts. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: 1 s c in each st across row, placing 6 s c over ch-8 space. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: 1 d c in each st across row. Ch 1, turn. 6th-7th-8th rows: 1 s c in each st across row. Ch 4, turn. 9th row: 2 tr c in each st across row. Ch 1, turn. 10th row: 1 s c in each st. Ch 4, turn. 11th row: * 2 tr c in next st, 1 tr c in next st; repeat from * across row. Ch 1, turn. 12th row: 1 s c in each st across row. Ch 4, turn. 13th row: 1 tr c in each st. Ch 1, turn. 14th row: 1 s c in each st. Ch 4, turn. 15th row: Repeat 13th row. Break yarn. Fasten contrasting color and make 1 row of s c all around coat, keeping work flat.

   SLEEVES: Fasten yarn at underarm edge, ch 4, make 25 tr c around armhole. Join each rd. Ch 1, turn. 2nd rd: 1 s c in each st around. Ch 4, turn. 3rd rd: 1 tr c in each st around. Ch 1, turn. 4th rd: 1 s c in each st. 5th rd: Work in tr c, working off 2 sts as one (decreases). Ch 1, turn. 6th rd: * skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st; repeat from * around. Break yarn. With contrasting color make 1 round of s c. Make the other sleeve the same way.

   HAT: Chain 4, join to form a ring. Ch 3, make 13 d c into ring (14 sts in all—the ch-3 counts as a st). 2nd rd: Ch 3, 1 d c in base of chain, 2, d c in each st around. Join each round. 3rd rd: Ch 3, 1 d c in base of chain, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 4th rd: Ch 3, 1 d c in each st around. Break yarn. Tie in white and work 1 row of s c around. Fasten off.
