REQUIREMENTS:
THREAD: 250-yards Bedspread Crochet Cotton
1-ball trimming silk
CROCHET HOOK: 1 steel No. 3
8-inch Character Doll

   DRESS YOKE: Using the No. 3 steel hook and crochet cotton, make a chain of 37 sts, turn; 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each st of chain (36 s c). Ch 1, turn. Row 2: Make 1 s c in each st across. Row 3: Repeat row 2. Row 4: Work in s c, decreasing 4 sts across row. Row 5: Work even in s c. Row 6: Repeat row 4. Rows 7-8-9-10: Work even in s c. Ch 3, turn. Row 11: Beginning of skirt. * Working through the back thread only, 1 d c in next st, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * across row, join with a slip st in top of ch-3. Ch 3. Round 12: Working through both loops of st, make 2 d c in each st around. Join rd. Ch 3. Round 13: * 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in next st; repeat from * around. Join rd. Ch 3. Round 14: Repeat 13th rd. Round 15: * 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts; repeat from * around. Join rd. Break thread. Tie in trimming silk and make 1 s c in each st around. Fasten off.

   OVER SKIRT: Tie thread at center back of skirt and working on the front thread of first row, * make 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in next st; repeat from * around. Join rd. 2nd rd: Make 2 d c in each st around. 3rd rd: * 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in next st; repeat from * around. Join rd. Break off thread. Tie in silk and make 1 s c in each st around. Fasten off. Shoulder: Counting from back edge of bodice, tie thread in at the 6th st, make 1 s c in next 2 sts, ch 1, turn. Next row: 1 s c in 2 sts, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until the piece measures 1¼ inches. Break thread leaving 8 inches to sew this piece onto front of dress yoke. Leave 10 sts for front neck edge. Make the other shoulder to correspond. Frill at neck edge: Tie thread at one side of back, working from the wrong side, make 2 d c in each st across back, up along strap, across front neck edge and down other side to correspond to first shoulder. Break off thread. Tie in trimming silk and make 1 s c in each st around. Fasten off.

   SLEEVES: Tie thread at underarm edge and working from right side of work, make 34 d c around armhole. Join round. Break thread. Tie in trimming silk and make 1 s c in each st around. Fasten off.

   PANTIES:Using the thread, make a chain of 31 sts, turn, 1 s c in 2nd chain from hook and in each of the remaining chain sts (30 sts). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c across row, increasing 4 sts across row. 3rd and 4th rows: Repeat row 2. Join with a slip st. Last round: Make 1 d c in each st across row. Break thread leaving 12 inches. Fold piece in two and catch together through center, loosely, to form a crotch.
