COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" or BEDSPREAD COTTON: Single Size Spread—72 x 108 inches (including fringe)—40 balls of White or Ecru, or 60 balls of any color, Double Size Spread—88 x 108 inches (including fringe)—50 balls of White or Ecru, or 75 balls of any color … Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE: Block measures 8 inches square.

BLOCK … Ch 8. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 11 (to count as tr and ch 7); (4 tr in ring, ch 7) 3 times; 3 tr in ring, sl st in 4th ch of ch-11.

Hereafter pick up only the back loop of each st.

   2nd rnd: Sl st in next 4 ch, ch 11, tr in same place as last sl st, * tr in next 4 sts, ch 2, skip 2 tr, tr in next 5 sts, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr. Repeat from * around, ending with 4 tr, sl st in 4th ch of ch-11. 3rd to 8th rnds incl: Sl st in next 4 sts, ch 11, tr in same place as last sl st, * tr in each tr to within ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip the ch-2 below, tr in each st to within center st of corner sp; in center st of corner sp make tr, ch 7 and tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 9th rnd: Sl st in next 4 sts, ch 8, dc in same place as last sl st (corner sp), * ch 3, skip 3 sts, dc in next tr, (ch 2, skip 2 tr, dc in next tr) 9 times; ch 2, skip 1 tr, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip 1 tr, dc in next tr, (ch 2, skip 2 tr, dc in next tr) 9 times; ch 3, skip 3 sts, dc in next st, ch 5, dc in same place as last dc. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off.
   Ridge: Attach thread in front loop of corner st on 1st rnd, * 2 sc in same st, sc in each st across to next corner st. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
   Work another ridge on each of the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th rnds as before.
   For Single Size Spread make 8 rows of 13 Blocks. For Double Size Spread make 10 rows of 13 Blocks. Sew Blocks neatly together on wrong side.
