Hereafter work is done in rows instead of rnds. 1st row: 4 d c in same place as sl st, * skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, skip 2 s c, 5 d c in next s c. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c and working to corresponding position at opposite side (the last side of hexagon forms neck edge). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 4 d c in 1st s c, * s c in 3rd d c of 5 d c-group, 5 d c in next s c. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in turning ch-3. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 6½ inches from tip of crown, making 7 d c in each s c on the last row only. Do not break off, but continue in pattern all around neck edge.

Run narrow ribbon through the 5th row from front edge, and around neck edge. Make a rosette at both ends of wide ribbon and sew one on each side of front at lower edge. Cut remaining ribbon in half for ties.
