Materials Required: American Thread Company "Star" Cotton Yarn, Article 75.

1—100 yd. skein Cream

5 yds. Yellow and 20 yds. each Pink and Green for flowers or 20 yds. Contrasting Color for Initials or Numerals are required for 2 jackets.

Steel Crochet Hook No. O

With Cream ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, join.
2nd Row. 2 s c in each s c, do not join or turn this or fol­lowing rows. Place a marker at the beginning of each row.
3rd Row. 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from beginning all around.
4th Row. Increase in every 3rd st.
5th Row. Increase in every 4th st.
6th Row. Increase in every 3rd st, join.
7th Row. Work 1 s c in each s c working from back of work and taking up entire st, sl st in next st.
8th Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each st, decreasing 1 s c in row, join in 1st s c (39 s c).
9th Row. Ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), 1 d c in each s c, join in 3rd st of ch.
10th Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each st, join in 1st s c.
11th Row. Ch 5, d c in same space, * skip 2 s c, 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c (shell) in next st, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.
12th Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, * 2 s c in next shell, skip 1 d c, s c in next d c, repeat from * all around in same manner, join. Repeat the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th rows once.
Repeat the 9th and 10th rows twice, break yarn.
Roses. With Yellow ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, join, break yarn.
Attach Pink, ch 3, s c in next s c, repeat from * all around, ch 3, join.
Next Row. Working in back of work, * ch 5, s c in next s c of previous row, repeat from * all around, join, break yarn. Work 1 more flower in same manner.
Leaf. With Green ch 4, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in next st of ch, 3 s c in end st, working on opposite side of ch, 1 s c in next st, sl st in next st, sl st in 1st s c, break yarn. Work 3 more leaves in same manner. Applique flowers and leaves to jacket as illustrated.
Initials. With basting thread trace initial desired on jacket. With Contrasting Color crochet a chain long enough to cover letter, then work a sl st in each st of ch, break yarn. Sew over tracing.
Numerals. Work in same manner as initials.
