Crochet  Baby Set #205 Pattern

REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of White 3-ply Baby Yarn; 4-ounces of Pink 3-ply Baby Yarn.
CROCHET HOOKS: #3 and #4 bone hooks (1-each)

Starting at the yoke with the white yarn using a #3 hook. Chain 55; 1 d c in 3rd st from hook; 1 d c in each of the remaining 52 chains (54 sts). Ch 3, turn, make 1 d c in each d c in row below. Repeat this row 8 times more (10 rows in all). 11th Row: Ch 3, turn, 1 d c in next 16 sts; ch 13 (neck edge), turn. 12th Row: 1 d c in 3rd st from hook and each of the 10 remaining chains; 1 d c in next 16 sts, 1 d c in top of turning chain. 13th Row: Ch 3, turn, 1 d c in each st across row (27 sts). Repeat row 13, SEVEN TIMES MORE. Break yarn. Make a loose chain of 10 sts, now make 1 d c in 17th st (count­ing from armhole edge) and 1 d c in last 16 sts. Ch 3, turn, work 1 d c in each st across row and in the 10 chain sts (27 sts). Work the same as the other side for 8 more rows. Break yarn.

BODY PART: Using a #4 hook, tie pink yarn at the front edge. ROW 1: Ch 2, pick up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, pick up a loop in base of ch, pick up a loop in next st (4 loops on hook); yarn over and pull thru all loops, ch 1, (eyelet) * pull up a loop in eyelet, pull up a loop in side of st, pull up a loop in base of st, pull up a loop in each of next 2 sts (6 loops on the hook); yarn over and pull thru all 6 loops, ch 1, * repeat be­tween *'s across front; omitting the sleeve part work between *'s across back; omitting the 2nd sleeve, repeat between *'s across 2nd front, ending row with a s c in last st. ROW 2: Ch 3, turn; make 2 d c in each eyelet on row below, ending row with 2 d c in top of turning chain. ROW 3: Ch 2, pick up loop in 2nd ch from hook, pick up loop in next 4 sts, yarn over and pull thru all 6 loops, ch 1, * pull up loop in eyelet, pull up a loop in side of st, pull up loop in base of st, pull up loop in next 2 sts, (6 loops) yarn over and pull thru all 6 loops, ch 1, * repeat between *'s across row, ending with s c in last st. Re­peat row 2 and 3 until the piece measures 6 inches from the underarm ending with row 2. Break yarn.

SLEEVES: Using a #4 hook and the pink yarn. Tie yarn at the underarm edge and make 1 row of s c, placing 2 sts over each row and 2 s c at the underarm (42 sts), slip st to first s c. (Hereafter the rows are not joined at the underarm.) Work in the same pattern as on the body part of sweater until the piece measures 5 inches from the underarm, ending with Row 2. Break yarn. Sew up sleeve. MAKE THE OTHER SLEEVE THE SAME WAY.

FINISHING OF SWEATER: Tie pink yarn at the bottom of right front and s c up the front, placing 2 sts over, each row up to corner of neck; 3 s c in corner; 1 s c in each stitch around neck; 3 s c in corner and finish 2nd front as the first one. Trim with ribbon.

BOOTIES: Using the #3 hook and the white yarn. Ch 10 sts, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the remaining 8 sts. (9 s c). Make 8 more rows of s c into each st. Break white yarn. Using a #4 hook, tie in pink yarn in the last st, ch 26 sts, join with a slip st into corner of the instep; make 1 s c along side of instep; 9 s c across toe; 9 s c along 2nd side of instep, 1 s c in each of the 26 chains. Now work around in s c for 8 more rows. Break yarn. Using a #4 bone hook and pink yarn. Tie yarn at the top back of the bootie; working from wrong side of work, ch 3 sts, 1 d c in each st around. (35 sts including the ch 3). Now work in the same pattern as on the body part of the sweater for 2 inches. Break yarn. Sew up the back and sole of bootie. MAKE THE OTHER BOOTIE THE SAME WAY.

BONNET: Using a #3 hook and white yarn. Ch 3 sts; join with a slip st to form a ring. 1st round: 6 s c in ring. 2nd round: 2 s c in each st. Mark the beginning of round with a colored thread. 3rd round: * 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 4th round: * 1 s c in next 2 sts, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 5th round: * 1 s c in next 3 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 6th round: * 1 s c in next 4 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 7th round: * 1 s c in next 5 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 8th round: * 1 s c in next 6 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 9th round: * 1 s c in next 7 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 10th round: * 1 s c in next 8 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 11th round: * 1 s c in next 9 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 12th round: * 1 s c in next 10 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 13th round: * 1 s c in next 11 sts; 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 14th round: * 1 s c in next 12 sts, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. (84 sts) Break white yarn, tie in pink and using the #4 hook work in the pattern as on the sweater over 70 sts (leaving 14 sts for back of neck). Work back and forth in the pattern for 4½ inches, ending with row 2. Break yarn. Working from the right side of the work with pink yarn, * make 1 s c over next row, 2 s c over next row *, repeat between *'s across front, 1 s c in each st across back section, repeat between *'s across 2nd front. Make 3 rows of s c into each st. Break yarn. Trim with ribbon as in illustration.
