6 4-oz. Skeins Knitting Worsted
Size 5 White Crochet Hook

Each square should measure 3½ by 3½ in.

Ch 4. Join with a sl st to form a ring. Ch 3.
Row 1—Work 2 d c in ring: * ch 2, 3 d c in ring; repeat from * twice, ending with ch 2, slip st into top of ch 3. Ch 3.
Row 2—Work 4 d c in first d c of row below, re­move hook from loop and insert it into the first st of the group of 4 d c, draw loop through the st, ch 1 (popcorn st), 1 d c in next st, 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c over the next ch 2; * 1 d c in next st, 1 popcorn st in next st, 1 d c in next st; 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c over next ch 2; repeat from * twice, ending with a sl st into the top of the ch 3 at beginning of row. Ch 3.
Row 3—Work 3 d c into the top of the ch 3 of row below, complete as for popcorn st, 1 d c into the top of popcorn st of row below, 1 popcorn st in next st, 1 d c in each of next 2 sts; * 2 d c ch 2, 2 d c over the ch 2; 1 d c in each of next 2 sts, 1 popcorn st in next st, 1 d c into top of next pop­corn st, 1 popcorn st in next st, 1 d c in each of next 2 sts; repeat from * twice, ending with 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c over last ch 2, 1 d c in each of next 2 sts. Join with a sl st into the top of the ch 3 at beginning of row. Ch 1.
Work 1 row of s c around entire square, working 11 sts on each side and 3 s c in each corner st. Make 80 squares and sew them tog. having 8 squares across and 10 squares in length.
Border: Work shell sts around entire cover as fol­lows: Join yarn at any corner, * skip 1 st, work 5 d c in next st, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st; repeat from * for 1 row. Fasten off.
