SCARF, No. 6010

MATERIALS REQUIRED.—5 balls Royal Society Crochet Cotton, color 1010, Ecru, size 3.

and
PILLOW, No. 5752

MATERIALS REQUIRED.—3 balls Royal Society Crochet Cotton, color 1010, Ecru, size 3.

 

First Row.—Ch. 10, catch back into first ch. to form ring. Ch. 5, 27 tr. c. into ring. Connect with sl. st.

Second Row.—Ch. 4, 1 d. c. between the spokes ch, 1, 1 d. c. between the next spokes and so on until 27 d. c. are made. Ch. 1, connect with sl. st.

Third Row.—1 sl. st. between the spokes, ch. 7, 1 tr. c. between the other spokes. Ch. 2, 1 tr. c. between the following spokes, ch. 2, continue until 27 tr. c. are made. Ch. 2, connect with sl. st.

Fourth Row.—1 s. c., 3 d. c., 1 s. c. into the hole between 2 spokes, and repeat all around.

Connect row with sl. st. and 2 sl. st. to center of first point.

Fifth Row.—Ch. 3, 1 tr. c. into center of next point, ch. 11, (*) catch with 1 tr. c. into the top of the tr. c. made last, ch. 12, skip 2 points, 1 d. c. into center of next point, ch. 12, skip 2 points, wind thread 5 times around needle, catch into center of following point, pull needle through 3 times, 2 loops at a time. With the remaining 3 loops wind thread again twice around needle, catch into center of next point and pull thread through all the loops 2 at a time. Ch. 7, and repeat from (*). When starting point is reached catch with sl. st. into 4th ch. of ch, 11, 3 sl. st. over ch.

Sixth Row.—Ch. 5, 1 tr. c. into the same ch, 1 tr. c. into each ch. all round. (At each corner make 2 tr. c. into 1 ch., ch. 1, 2 tr. c. into the same.) Connect with a sl. st. into corner hole. Turn.

Seventh Row.—Ch. 5, skip 3, 3 tr. c. into the next ch, ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c. into the next, ch. 7, skip 6, 1 tr. c. skip 3, 3 tr. c. into the next ch., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c. into the next, ch. 7, skip 6, 1 tr. c., skip 3, 3 tr. c., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c. Turn.

Eighth Row.—(**) ch. 5, 3 tr. c. into first hole of previous row, ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 3, 9 tr. c., one into each, skip 3, 3 tr. c., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 3, 9 tr. c., one into each, skip 3, 3 tr. c., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 3, 1 tr. c. Turn.

Ninth Row.—Ch. 5, skip 3, 3 tr. c. into the hole, ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 3, 1 tr. c., ch. 7, skip 7, 1 tr. c., skip 3, 3 tr. c., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c., ch. 7, skip 7, 1 tr. c., skip 3, 3 tr. c., ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c. Turn. Repeat from (**) until 7 bars have been made. Repeat the 7 bars on the other side of center motif.

PICOT EDGE FOR SIDES

Catch with s, c. into first hole. Ch, 7, catch back into fifth ch. to form picot, ch. 2, 1 s. c. into the next hole, ch. 7, form picot, ch. 2, 1 s. c. into following hole and continued across.

When making picots across the square motif skip 3 tr. c. and catch back into the next. This is instructions for the cushion.

In making the scarf, make 2 square motifs with 4 bars in between and 5 bars at each end.

FOR BORDER FOR CUSHION

Ch. 132, skip 1, 1 s. c., one into each across the ch. Turn. Ch. 1, 23 s. c., one into each. Turn. (***), ch. 3, skip 1, 3 d. c., one into each, ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c., ch. 4, skip 2, 3 tr. c. into one, ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 2, 1 tr. c. Turn. Ch. 4, 3 tr. c. into the loop, ch. 2, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c., skip 3 ch.s. of ch. 7, tr. c. Turn. 10 sl. st., one into each, ch. 3, 1 tr. c. into the same ch. with tr. c. of previous row, ch. 3, skip 4, 2 d. c., one into each in bar. Turn. 4 d. c. into first hole, 1 d. c. into spoke, 4 d. c. into next hole, 1 tr. c. into spoke, 3 tr. c. into the loop between tr. c. of previous row. Ch. 3, 3 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 1 tr. c., 4 d. c. into hole, 1 d. c. into spoke, 4 d. c. into next hole, skip one, 3 sl. st. Turn.

Skip 3, 10 d. c., one into each, 1 tr. c. into the same, skip 3, 3 tr. c. into hole, ch. 3, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 3, 1 tr. c., 1 d. c. into the same, 11 d. c., one into each, skip 1, 1 sl. st. Turn. Ch. 7, catch back into fifth ch. to form picot. Ch. 3, skip 2, 1 s. c., ch. 7, picot, ch. 3, skip 2, 1 s. c., ch. 7, picot, ch. 3, skip 2, 1 s. c. Continue making until 13 picots have been made. (In making the center picot of point skip 1 ch. instead of 2 ch.) The thirteenth picot forms the first picot of the second scallop. With the thirteenth picot, sl st. into the s. c. of bar. 27 s. c. into bar. Turn and repeat from (***).

Before starting picots for second scallop, ch. 2, catch into the thirteenth picot of the first scallop, ch. 2, catch with s. c. into the third spoke of second scallop and continue as before.

The border for cushion requires 5 scallops. When completed, make border on other side with 1 s. c. into each ch., all across. Turn. Ch. 1, 1 s. c., one into each, all across. Turn. Ch. 6, skip 3, 3 tr. c. into one, ch. 3, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 5, 3 tr. c., ch. 3, 3 tr. c. into same, skip 5 and continue. Turn. Ch. 5, 1 s. c. into loop between tr. c. of previous row, ch. 5, 1 s. c. into next loop and continue. Turn. Ch. 1, 5 s. c. into first loop of ch. 5, 1 s. c. into spoke, 5 s. c. into next loop and continue across.

For the border for the scarf make a plain ch. width of scarf and proceed as for the cushion border. The scarf has 7 scallops.

The Fleur-de-lis is worked Satin Stitch in 341 Tan Rope, and outlined in 1246 Brown CELESTA.

The cushion requires 10 skeins of 341 Rope, 5 skeins of 1246 CELESTA, and 3 balls of ROYAL SOCIETY CROCHET COTTON 1010, Size 3.

The scarf requires 12 skeins of 341 Tan Rope, 6 skeins of 1246 Brown CELESTA, and 5 balls of ROYAL SOCIETY CROCHET COTTON 1010, Size 3.
