MATERIALS REQUIRED—3 balls Royal Society Crochet Cotton, color 1000, Pale Blue, size 5, and 1 ball Royal Society Crochet Cotton, White, size 5. Crochet hook, No. 7.

First Row.—Ch. 48, skip 11, catch back with s. c. in the next. Ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c. ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c. ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c. Continue row. Turn.

Second Row.—Ch. 7, 1 s. c. into first loop. Ch. 7, 1 s. c. into next loop. Finish row and repeat this row until 80 rows or the desired length is made. Turn.

Eighty-first Row.—Ch. 7, 1 s. c. into loop, ch. 4, 1 s. c. into next loop, ch. 4, 1 s. c. into the following. Continue row. Ch. 3, 5 d. c. into the last loop, 1 d. c. into spoke at side, 5 d. c. into next loop. Continue all round. At corner make 5 d. c., ch. 1, 5 d. c. into the same loop. Finished off.

Eighty-second Row.—Ch. 17, catch with s. c. into d. c. of first long side. Turn, 16 s. c. into ch. 17. Turn. Ch. 19, skip 5 d. c. of bar. 1 s. c. into next. Turn. 16 s. c. into ch. 19. Turn ch., skip 5 d. c., 1 s. c. into next. Continue row. At corner make ch. 21, catch into corner ch. Turn. 16 s. c. Turn. Ch. 23, catch into same corner ch. Turn. 18 s. c. Turn. Ch. 21 again into the same corner ch. Turn. 16 s. c. Turn. Ch. 21, skip 2, 1 s. c. into next. Turn. 16 s. c. Turn. Ch. 19, skip 2, 1 s. c. Turn. 16 s. c. Turn. Ch. 19, skip 5, 1 s. c. Turn. 16 s. c. Continue row. Repeat as before for corner. Continue other long side the same as the first side. This border is made on three sides only.

Eighty-third Row.—2 d. c. into first bar of last made row. 4 d. c. into the hole, 2 d. c. into bar, 4 d. c. into hole. Continue around three sides, making 6 d. c. into, each hole at corner.

Eighty-fourth Row.—1 d. c. into first d. c. of last made row. Ch. 1, skip 1, 1 d. c., ch. 1, skip 1, 1 d. c. Continue around three sides, making corner with 2 d. c. into one and ch. 3, between. This finishes front side of bag.

FOR OTHER SIDE.

First Row.—Ch. 78, skip 11, 1 s. c., ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c., ch. 7, skip 4, 1 s. c. Finish row. Turn.

Second Row.—Ch. 7, 1 s. c. into first loop, ch. 7, 1 s. c. into next loop. Continue row, and repeat this row until 87 rows are made. Turn and repeat eighty-first row all round.

Third Row.—Same as eighty-fourth row. Place the two sides together and join with the following picot edge around three sides. 1 s. c. into first hole, through both sides, ch. 5, catch back into first ch. to form picot, 2 s. c. into next hole. (*) 1 s. c. into the third, ch. 5, form picot, 2 s. c. into fourth. Repeat from (*) and continue with following edge.

FOR TOP.

Ch. 3, 1 d. c. into each ch. all round, join, ch. 4, skip 1 d. c., 1 d. c. into next, ch. 1, skip 1, 1 d. c. Continue around. Join. 2 s. c. into first loop. Ch. 5, form picot, 2 s. c. into next loop, 1 s. c. into third, ch. 5, form picot, 2 s. c. into fourth, and continue all round.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DAISY.

Ch. 6, join to form ring, ch. 10, skip 1, 2 s. c. 1 into each, 5 d. c. 2 s. c., catch over to other side of ch. 10 s. c. 1 into each, ch. 2, 10 s. c. 1 s. c. into loop of ch. 6, (*) ch. 10, skip 1, 2 s. c. 5 d. c., 2 s. c. catch over with sl. st. to other side of ch. Fold first petal over second, sl. st. into it, 4 s. c. into both petals, thus connecting them. 5 s. c. into second petal up to the point. Ch. 2, 10 s. c. over the other side, 1 s. c. into loop. Repeat from (*) for 4 more petals. When the sixth petal is finished fold over on first and connect with 5 s. c. The center of the daisy has three rows of French Knots in yellow. Make French Knots with double thread once around the needle. Use Royal Society Rope Nos. 113 and 116, The bag has 5 daisies.
