Round Shopping Bag Pattern #4015

MATERIALS:

CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, 1 ball each of Red, White and Blue.

Clark's O.N.T. Rug and Afghan Hook, size G.

CORD HANDLE ... Cut 4 strands of Red each 2 yards long. Twist the strands tightly, then double the twisted strands and give them a second twist in the opposite direction. Make a loose knot at free end of cord to prevent raveling. Make another piece same as this, using White yarn. Undo the loose knots and tie these two ends together in a tight knot, making length half Red and half White.

BAG PIECE ... Starting at center with Red, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: (Ch 5, sc in ring) 7 times; ch 3, dc in ring (8 loops). 2nd rnd: * (Ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, sc in same loop (corner). Repeat from * 2 more times; (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 3, dc in same loop (12 loops). 3rd rnd: * (Ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 5, sc in same loop (corner). Repeat from * 2 more times, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 3, dc in same loop (16 loops). Continue thus, increas­ing 1 loop at each corner on each row until Red yarn is all used up. Attach White and continue around until White is all used up. Attach Blue and continue around until Blue is all used up. Fasten off. Run cord through loops (each corner loop and one loop between each corner). Tie ends in knot and trim knots.
