Bean Bag Pattern #X-126

MATERIALS:

CLARK'S O.N.T. or J. & P. COATS PEARL COTTON, size 5, 1 ball each of light and dark colors.

Steel crochet hook No. 6.

A handful of beans.

This material is sufficient for 2 bean bags.

Starting at center with Dark, ch 2. 1st rnd: In 2nd ch from hook make sc, h dc and 10 dc (12 sts). Do not join rnds. Drop Dark, attach Light in 1st sc. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in same st where thread was attached, 2 h dc in next h dc, 2 dc in each dc (24 sts). Drop Light, pick up Dark. 3rd rnd: * Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around (36 sts). Drop Dark, pick up Light. 4th rnd: * Dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around (48 sts). Drop Light, pick up Dark. Continue thus increasing as necessary (about 12 sts on each rnd) to keep work flat, until piece measures 4½ inches in diameter. End each color separately by working h dc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Make another piece same as this only reversing colors. Sew edges of pieces together. Before closing the bag, slip a handful of beans inside. Then close opening.
