MATERIALS—D•M•C Pearl Cotton, Art. 116D, Size 8: 1 ball Rose Ombre No. 57 or No. 107 (A), 1 ball Black No. 310 (B) and D•M•C Tatting Cotton, Art. 19: 1 ball Yellow Ombre No. 90 or No. 108 (C).
7½-inch Doll.
Gold beads, sequins and brilliants.
Steel Crochet Hooks, Size 7 and Size 4.

BODICE—Using size 7 hook, with A ch 41, dc in 5th ch from hook, work [ch 1, 1 dc] in every 2nd ch across (19 sps). Row 2—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd dc, [ch 1, 1 dc] in each remaining dc, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4. Rpt row 2 twice. Shoulder Strap—Ch 1, turn, slip st to and including 3rd dc, ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc (2 sps). Rows 2 to 8 inclusive—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4. Fasten off. Skip 3 sps (for underarm), sew end of Shoulder Strap to next 2 sps at front Bodice; work other Shoulder Strap to correspond. Edging—Working along lower edge of Bodice, with B work 1 sc in first sp, [ch 3, 1 sc] in each remaining sp, fasten off. Work same Edging around armholes and neck edge.

COLLAR—With A ch 31, tr in 7th ch from hook, ch 1, [1 tr, ch 1] in next 3 chs, * [1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 3 chs *, [1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 10 chs; rpt between STARS once, [1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 4 chs, tr in next ch (31 sps). Row 2—Ch 5, turn, tr in 2nd tr, ch 1, [1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 4 tr, * [1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 4 tr *, [1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 12 tr; rpt between STARS once, [1 tr, ch 1] in each of next 5 tr, tr in 5th ch of ch-6, fasten off. Edging—Do not turn, with B work 1 sc in first sp, [ch 3, 1 sc] in each remaining sp, fasten off. Put Bodice on Doll, sew back seam. Tack Collar in place (seam at back) as shown.

WRISTLETS—With A ch 14, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each remaining ch, fasten off. Put on wrist, tack in place.

SKIRT—Using size 4 hook, with C ch 37, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 3, 1 sc] in each remaining ch (35 Loops). Row 2—Ch 3, turn, sc in first Loop, [ch 3, 1 sc] in each remaining Loop. Rpt row 2 until 32 rows from beginning. Fasten off. Run a matching drawstring thru foundation ch (for waistband), put on Doll just below waistline, tighten drawstring to fit, tie knot.

HIP SASH—Using size 7 hook, with A ch 36, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 31 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Rows 2 to 6 inclusive—Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, hdc in next hdc, dc in each of next 31 dc, hdc in next hdc, sc in next sc. Fasten off. Edging—Turn, with B work 1 sc in first st, [ch 2, 1 sc] in each remaining st, fasten off. From same side work same Edging on other side of foundation ch. Front Piece—With A ch 8, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 4 chs. Rows 2 to 10 inclusive—Ch 3, turn, dc in 2nd dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, dc in top ch of ch-3. Fasten off. Edging—Working along long side of Front Piece, with B work 1 sc in end st of first row, * ch 3, sc in end st of next row; rpt from STAR across, fasten off; work same Edging on other long side.

FRINGE—Wind B on 1-inch cardboard, cut at one end, tie a 2-strand Fringe in each of 6 sts at short sides of Front Piece. Trim evenly. Arrange Hip Sash around hips just below waistline (having seam at front), sew seam. Fold Front Piece at center and sew in place over seam of Hip Sash as shown.

SANDALS—Using size 7 hook, with B ch 6, join (with slip st) into ring, ch 7, work in ring 2 dtr, 2 long tr, 2 tr, 5 dc, 2 tr, 2 long tr, 5 dtr, 2 long tr, 2 tr, 5 dc, 2 tr, 2 long tr, 2 dtr, join in top of ch-7 (36 sts), fasten off. Heel Strap—With B make a loop on hook, slip st in 4th st before joining st, ch 9, slip st in 4th st after joining st, fasten off. Sandal Lacings—Mark center front of Sandals, with B slip st in 5th st before marking, chain for 5 inches, fasten off. Slip st in 5th st after marking, chain for 5 inches, fasten off. Put Sandals on feet, cross Sandal Lacings at front, pass both Lacings thru Heel Strap, wind around ankle and leg as shown, tie knot.

CROWN—Using 2 strands of C and size 7 hook ch 40 (chain must measure 4 ins.), join (with slip st) into ring, ch 1, sc in joined ch, sc in each of next 17 chs, † ch 7, slip st in 5th ch from hook, * ch 4, slip st in same ch; rpt from STAR once, slip st in next 2 chs on stem †, sc in each of next 4 chs of Crown; rpt between DAGGERS once, sc in each of next 18 chs of Crown, join in first sc, fasten off. Working on other side of foundation ch of Crown, skip first 14 sts after joining, work 2 tr in each of next 2 sts. Row 2—Ch 4, turn, tr in first tr, tr in each of next 3 tr. Row 3—Ch 4, turn, tr in first tr, tr in each of next 3 tr, tr in top ch of ch-4. Row 4—Ch 4, turn, tr in first tr, tr in each of next 4 tr, tr in ch-4, fasten off; skip next 8 sts on foundation ch and work other side to correspond. Starch Crown. Decorate with brilliants, sequins, beads as shown.
