MATERIALS—D•M•C Pearl Cotton, Art. 116D, Size 8: 2 balls Orange Ombre No. 106 or No. 51 (A), 2 balls Blue No. 796 or No. 797 (B) and D•M•C Six Strand Cotton, Art. 117C: 1 skein White.
7½-inch Doll.
4-inch ribbon; ½ yard for Petticoat.
Scrap of fine net 8 ins. by 12 ins.
Colored sequins and Pearls.
Steel Crochet Hook, Size 7.

Rnd 2—Ch 5, skip joined st, [Shell of 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in next tr, ch 2, * dc in next tr, ch 2, Shell in next tr, ch 2; rpt from STAR around, join in 3rd ch of ch-5 (19 Shells). Rnds 3 to 7—Ch 5, turn, skip joined st, Shell in ch-2 sp of next Shell, ch 2, * dc in next dc between Shells, ch 2, Shell in sp of next Shell, ch 2; rpt from STAR around, join in 3rd ch of ch-5. Rnds 8 to 11—Ch 6, turn, Shell in sp of next Shell, ch 3, * dc in next dc between Shells, ch 3, Shell in next Shell, ch 3; rpt from STAR around, join in 3rd ch of ch-6. BODICE—Spacing sts evenly, with A work 36 sc on other side of foundation ch of Skirt. Row 2—Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. Row 3—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd sc, [ch 1, 1 dc] in each remaining sc (35 sps). Rows 4, 5, 6—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd sp, [ch 1, 1 dc] in each remaining sp. Shoulder Strap—Ch 1, turn, slip st in each st to and including 5th dc, ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc (2 sps). Row 2—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4. Rpt row 2 three times. Fasten off. Skip next 4 sps (for underarm), sew end of Shoulder Strap to next 2 sps at front Bodice; work other Shoulder Strap to correspond. Sleeves—With A work [1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1] in each of 4 sps at underarm also in 5 sps of Shoulder Strap, join in first tr (18 sps). Rnds 2 to 6—Ch 5, turn, tr in first sp, ch 1, [1 tr, ch 1] in each remaining sp, join in 4th ch of ch-5. Rnd 7—Ch 1, turn, * 2 sc in next sp, ch 3, Slip st in last sc made (Picot); rpt from STAR around, join in first sc, fasten off. With A work [1 sc, a Picot] in each sp around neck edge, fasten off.

CLOAK—With B ch 24, dc in 5th ch from hook, dc in each of next 19 chs. Row 2—Ch 4, turn, dc in 2nd dc, [ch 1, 1 dc] in each of next 18 dc, ch 1, dc in turning ch (20 sps). Row 3—Ch 4, turn, [Shell of 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in first dc, * ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, Shell in next dc; rpt from STAR across working last Shell in 3rd ch of ch-4 (11 Shells). Rows 4 to 8—Ch 4, turn, Shell in ch-2 sp of first Shell, * ch 2, dc in next dc between Shells, ch 2, Shell in sp of next Shell; rpt from STAR across. Rows 9 to 12—Ch 4, turn, Shell in first Shell, * ch 3, dc in next dc between Shells, ch 3, Shell in next Shell; rpt from STAR across. Row 13—Ch 5, turn, [Shell of 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr] in first Shell, * ch 3, tr in next dc between Shells, ch 3, Shell in next Shell; rpt from STAR across. Rows 14 to 17—Ch 5, turn, Shell in first Shell, * ch 3, tr in next tr between Shells, ch 3, Shell in next Shell; rpt from STAR across. Rows 18 to 25—Work as for row 14 only work Shells of 4 tr, ch 2, 4 tr. Row 26—Ch 5, turn then rpt between STARS of rnd 17 of Skirt across, fasten off. Collar—With B work 21 sc on other side of foundation ch of Cloak. Row 2—Ch 3, turn, [Shell of 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in first sc, * ch 2, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 2, skip 1 sc, Shell in next sc; rpt from STAR across (6 Shells). Rpt row 4 of Cloak twice. Fasten off. Run a matching drawstring thru waistline of Dress and around neck edge. Steam lightly. Put dress on Doll, sew back seam. Tighten drawstrings and tie knot.

PETTICOAT—Sew ends of 4-inch ribbon together, run a shirring drawstring ¼-inch from one edge; put on Doll, pull drawstring to fit waist, tie a knot.

CORD—With B chain about 16 ins., slip st in each ch across, fasten off; wrap around waist twice, tie a knot.

MEDALLION—With B ch 2, 12 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in first sc, * ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, skip 1 sc, slip st in next sc; rpt from STAR around, join, fasten off; sew to front of Bodice as shown.

CROWN—Using 4 strands of White (Six Strand Cotton), ch 36 (must measure 3¼ ins.), join into ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around, join (in first sc). Rnd 2—Ch 1, sc in joined st, * ch 7, slip st in 4th ch from hook, ch 4, skip 1 sc, sc in each of next 2 sc; rpt from STAR around, join, fasten off. Starch Crown. Decorate with beads, brilliants, colored sequins as desired. Sew Cloak to back neck edge.

SCEPTER—Use 1½-inches of pipe cleaner, decorate as desired. Arrange veil as shown.
