MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 1 ball each of dark and light color will make 3 pot holders.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A bone ring for each pot holder.

FRONT . . . Starting at center with Dark, ch 4. 1st rnd: 14 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st in top st of starting chain. 2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 dc), dc in same place as sl st (inc made), * holding back on hook the last 2 loops make dc in next dc. Drop Dark, draw a loop of Light through these 2 loops on hook, thus changing to new color. Now, working over Dark in order to conceal it, make dc in same place where last dc was made (another inc made), 2 dc in next dc, drawing Dark through last 2 loops of last dc; working over Light, make 2 Dark dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before, drawing Dark loop through top st of turning ch and loop on hook (30 dc). Always conceal unused color in dc's and change color as described in last rnd. 3rd rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, * 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, changing color as before; with Light make dc in next dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, changing color as before; with Dark, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before (50 dc in all). 4th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, with Light, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, with Dark, dc in next 4 dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before. 5th and 6th rnds: Sl st in next dc, * dc in each dc to last dc of this color group, 2 dc in last dc of this color group, 2 dc in next dc; change color. Repeat from * around. Join. 7th rnd: Sl st in next 3 dc, ch 3, * dc in each dc of same color, dc in next dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, change color. Repeat from * around. Join.

8th rnd: Sl st in next 4 dc, ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, * * 3 dc in next dc, * dc in each dc of same color, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc. Change color. Repeat from * once more, dc in next 5 dc. Repeat from * * around. Join and fasten off Light. 9th, 10th and 11th rnds: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, making 3 dc in center dc of each 3-dc group. Join. Fasten off Dark. 12th rnd: Attach Light and work sc in each dc around, making sc, ch 1 and sc in center dc of each 3-dc group. 13th rnd: * Sc in each sc to next ch-1 sp (between sc's), in ch-1 sp make sc, ch 1 and sc. Repeat from * around. Join and fasten off. 14th rnd: Attach Dark in 1st sc of last rnd and repeat 13th rnd. Join and fasten off.

BACK . . . Make another piece same as this, reversing colors.

FINISHING ... Pad (for padding, see pattern book) and sew Back to Front along edges. Sew on ring.
