For the Lamp Shade—Ch 199, turn and work 65 sp, ch 5, turn. 2d Row—32 sp, 1 bl, 32 sp, ch 5, turn. Follow pattern in model, dropping off 1 sp at end of every 10th row on each side, so the piece of work will narrow to fit the space.

   The medallion in this lamp is made from the working model, and can be made with fine or coarse crochet cotton, according to its use. If for a small lamp it should be made of J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet Cotton, No. 100, but if the shade is large, then from No. 30 to 50 should be used, and as many open meshes worked around the design as may be required to fit the space for medallion.
