MATERIALS:
We suggest thread in sizes 30 to 80
INSERTION No. 8571A … 1st row: Ch 60. D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in next 2 ch (1 bl); ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (1 sp); 6 more sps, d c in next 9 ch, 7 sps, d c in next 3 ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c in next 3 d c (bl over bl); ch 2, d c in next d c (sp over sp); 5 more sps, d c in next 2 ch, d c in next d c. (Ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c) 3 times; (d c in next 2 ch, d c in next d c twice; 5 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 bl, 4 sps, 1 bl, 6 sps, 1 bl, 5 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. Starting at 4th row, follow chart to top. Then repeat entire design for desired length.
EDGING No. 8571B … 1st row: Ch 36. D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in next 2 ch (1 bl); ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (1 sp); 6 more sps, d c in next 9 ch (3 bls). Ch 8, turn. 2nd row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in next 4 ch, d c in next d c (2 bls increased). Ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c (1 sp); make 2 more sps, d c in next 2 ch, d c in next d c (1 bl); 6 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 bl, 5 sps, 1 bl, 5 sps, ch 2; then make a foundation d c in 3rd st of turning ch—to make a foundation d c, thread over, insert hook in st and draw loop through; thread over and draw through one loop, thus making a ch st; complete as for a d c. Make 2 more foundation d c by inserting hook in ch-1 of previous d c; then make 1 d c in the usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 5, turn. 4th row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in next ch, d c in next d c (1 bl increased); make 7 sps, 1 bl, 5 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. Starting at 5th row, follow chart until 6 rows are made. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: 1 bl, 2 sps, 1 bl, 3 sps, 1 bl, 7 sps, 1 bl. Ch 1, turn. 8th row: Sl st in next 3 d c (1 bl decreased), ch 3 and follow chart to end of row. Starting at 9th row, follow chart to top. Then repeat entire design for desired length.
