Steel Crochet Hook No. 11 or 12.
Each motif measures about 2¼ inches.
540 Motifs 18 x 30 are required for cloth 45 x 75.
MOTIF. Ch 10, join to form a ring, ch 4, tr c into ring, ch 4, sl st in top of tr c for picot, * 2 tr c, ch 4, sl st in top of last tr c for picot, repeat from * 10 times, join.
2nd Row. Ch 7, sl st between next 2 picots of previous row, repeat from beginning all around.
3rd Row. Sl st to center of loop, ch 6, d c in same space, * ch 5, d c in next loop, ch 3, d c in same loop, repeat from * all around, ch 5, join in 3rd st of ch 6.
4th Row. Ch 7, tr c into loop, ch 3, tr c in same loop, ch 3, tr c in same loop, ** ch 5, d c in next 3 ch loop, ch 3, d c in same loop, ch 5, d c in next 3 ch loop, ch 3, d c in same loop, ch 5, tr c in next 3 ch loop, * ch 3, tr c in same loop, repeat from * twice and repeat from ** all around joining row in 4th st of ch 7.
5th Row. MOTIFS are joined together at corner chains and the chains in the 2 shells at sides of motif.
Scallop. If napkins to match are desired. Cut squares of linen any size required. Over a rolled hem work a row of s c and then repeat the scallop used on cloth.
Work the 1st 3 rows of motif, finish with a row of s c and insert motif into one corner of napkin. Cut out linen under motif if desired.
