These crocheted Infant's Moccasins, soft and warm and quick to make, are a lovely shower gift, a quick seller at bazaars, a treasure for the children in your home.
They are shown in White, with ties in color—either Pink or Blue.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Lily Sugar 'N Cream Yarn Art. 930 or Lily Cotton Yarn Art. 600
One ball or skein is enough for two pairs.
10 yards of color will make two ties.
Steel crochet hooks Nos. 1 and 2.
SOLE: With White and using No. 1 hook, ch 21—to measure approximately 3⅝ inches long, 2 sc in second st from hook, sc in next 18 sts, 2 sc in next (end) st. Work along other side of ch, 2 sc in same (end) st with last 2 sc, sc in 18 sts, 2 sc in same st with first 2 sc (44 sc), sl st to first sc. ROUND 2—Work in back loop of sts to complete sole. Ch 3, 2 dc in same st with sl st, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next, sc in next 6 sts, hdc in next, dc in next 10 sts, 3 dc in next st, work down other side with 3 dc in next st, 10 dc, hdc, 6 sc, hdc, 2 dc, 3 dc in last st (52 sts), sl st to ch 3. ROUND 3—Sc in each st around (52 sc) to measure 4⅜ inches in length. Sl st to first sc.
TOP—Ch 1, do not turn, using No. 0 hook work sc in back loop of each st around, sl st to ch 1. Complete top through both loops of sts. ROUND 2—Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1 (52 sc). Repeat Round 2 until 5 rounds in all are complete. ROUND 6—Ch 1, sc in next 22 sts, (sk 1 sc, sc in next) twice, sc in next sc (sk 1 sc, sc in next) twice, sc in 21 sts to complete round, sl st to ch 1. ROUND 7—Ch 1, sc in first 20 sts, (sk 1 sc, sc in next) twice, sc in next sc, (sk 1, sc in next) twice, sc in next 19 sts, sl st to ch 1. ROUND 8—Ch 1, sc in first sc, (ch 1, sk 1, sc in next) 8 times, sc in next sc, pull up loop in each of next 8 sc (9 loops on hook) pick up thread, pull through all loops on hook at once, ch 1,—pulling it down tight, sc in next 2 sc, (ch 1, sk 1, sc in next) 8 times, sl st to ch 1. Fasten off. Work 1 row of sc through front loop of sts in Round 3 of sole.
TIES—With color ch 85 sts, fasten off. Run string in and out through ch 1 spaces around top of moccasin, tie in bow at front.
PUFF BALL—Wrap color around a cardboard 1 inch wide 35 times, (make 4) slip from cardboard, tie, firmly in center, cut all ends even, fluff yarn by rolling in the palm of your hand and fasten to ends of ties.
