MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Lily Sugar 'N Cream Yarn Art. 930

1 ball or skein each in White, Cream and a color.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.

SIZE—Approximately 6 inches high; 6 inches wide.

FACE—With Ivory, ch 5, sk 1, sc in next 3 sts, 5 sc in next, sc in 3 on other side of ch, 5 sc in skipped st. Sc in next 4, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in 5, 2 sc in 3. (Sc in 6, [2 sc in next, sc in next] twice, 2 sc in next) twice. (Sc in 7, [2 sc in next, sc in next 2] twice, 2 sc in next) twice. (Sc in 8, [2 sc in 1, sc in 3] twice, 2 sc in next) twice. Sc in 11, 2 in 1, 1 in 4, 2 in 1, 1 in 14, 2 in 1, 1 in 4, 2 in 1, sc in next 48 Sts, sl st in next 2 (44 sts around). Fasten off.

BONNET—Make 2 in White, 1 in color—sl st in last sc of face, working in back loop of sts around, sc in next 3 sts, hdc in 1, 2 dc in 1, dc in 1, 2 dc in 1, tr in 1, (2 tr in 1) 11 times, tr in 1, 2 dc in 1, dc in 1, 2 dc in 1, dc in 1, hdc in 1, sc in 3, sl st in 1. Fasten off. ROW 2—Sl st in first sc at beg of last row, ch 2, dc in back loop of next 7 sts, 2 dc in 1, dc in 2, 2 dc in 1, (tr in 2, 2 tr in 1) twice, (dtr—over hook 3 times—in 1, 2 dtr in 1) 4 times, (1 tr in 2, 2 in 1) twice, 2 dc in 1, dc in 2, 2 in 1, dc in 6, dc in next 2 holding final loop of each on hook, draw thread through all loops on hook at once. Fasten off. ROW 3—Sl st in first dc of last row, sc in back loop of each dc around, sl st in last st (51 sc, 2 sl st) around. Fasten off.

EDGE—(To contrast with Bonnet) Sl st in same st with first sl st in Row 1 of Bonnet, ch 3, sc in first st of ch for a picot (P), sl st in next 3-ch, (P, sl st) in next sl st and in back loop of each next second sc around, ending with sl st in same st with last sl st in Row 1. Fasten off.

AROUND FACE—With same color, ch 2, sl st, inserting needle in same sts used to work first row of bonnet, ch 2, fasten off. Tack ends at back. Fasten off.

BOW—With color (ch 8, sk 3, sc in 5) 3 times, sc in top at second tie, sc between first and second and 1 sc in top of first tie. Make a fourth tie same as first, sl st to first tie. Fasten off. Sew in place under chin.

HANGERS—Ch 16 and fasten off, leaving ends to sew in place.

Embroider the hair and features in color. Use yarn as it is for mouth and hair; split and use 2 ply for eyes, brows, nose. Make long stitches for eyebrows; tack in place with thread or yarn for smoother curves. You can design other faces from cartoon characters for variety.
