Apron Strings Potholder Pattern

MATERIALS: CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, 1 ball.

Clark's O.N.T. Rug and Afghan Hook, size G.

This amount is sufficient for one set of potholders.

Starting at bottom ch 22 (to measure 7½ inches). 1st row: 2 d c in 4th ch from hook, * ch 2, s c in same place as d c, skip 2 ch, 3 d c in next ch. Repeat from * until 7 shells are made, ending with s c. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: * 3 d c in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, s c in same place as d c. Repeat from * across, ending with d c in turning ch. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is ½ inch less than square. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Work d c, half d c and s c in each ch-2 space across, ending with d c in turning ch. Do not break off, but make a chain about 18 inches long, or one long enough to stretch from one handle of your roasting pan to the other handle. Then make 22 more ch; work another holder in same way.
