MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 2 balls each of No. 24-C Bermuda and No. 12 Black, or
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen: 1 ball each of No. 76 Robinette and No. 12 Black.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A coral bath towel.

  Make a sketch of letters desired for monogram, having main bar 4 inches long and cross bar 2 inches.

INITIAL—Main Bar ... Starting at long side with Bermuda make a chain slightly longer than sketch. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures length desired. Break off. Cut off re­maining chain. 2nd row: Attach Black to back loop of first dc, sc in same place and in back loop of each dc across. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Black to opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across. Break off. 4th row: Attach Bermuda to back loop of first sc, sl st in back loop of each sc across. Break off.

CROSS BAR ... Starting at long side with Bermuda, make a chain slightly longer than sketch. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until piece measures length de­sired. Break off. Cut off remaining chain. 2nd row: Attach Black to oppo­site side of starting chain, sc in each ch across. Break off.

NARROW STRIP ... Using Ber­muda make a chain slightly longer than sketch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, until piece meas­ures length desired. Break off. Cut off remaining chain.
   Pin sketch to towel, and sew initials in place over sketch.

OUTLINE ... With Black make a chain 28 inches long. Join with sl st to form ring. Break off. Attach Ber­muda to first chain, sc in each ch around. Join and break off. Sew in place, framing initials.

EDGING ... Mark off ½ inch sps across hem of towel. 1st row: Attach Black to first mark, 3 sc in same place, * ch 2, 3 sc over next mark. Repeat from * across. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Bermuda to first sp, ch 5, 3 dc in same sp, * ch 2, 3 dc in next sp. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sp, ch 2, dc in same sp. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Black to first sp, ch 5, holding back on hook the last loop of each d tr make 2 d tr in same sp, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), ch 8, make a 3-d tr cluster in same sp, * dc in next sp, in next sp make cluster, ch 8 and cluster. Repeat from * across. Break off. 4th row: Attach Bermuda to first sp, 10 sc in same sp, * sc in next dc, 10 sc in next sp. Repeat from * across. Break off.
   Make Edging across opposite end of towel in same way.
