Monogram Guest Towel Decorative Crochet Pattern TW361

MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70: 1 ball of No. 150 Blended Pink and Hunter and 1 ball of No. 12 Black.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 14.
Grey guest towel.

INITIAL ... 1st row: With Blended Pink and Hunter, * ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made). Repeat from * until piece is long enough to form Initial 1¼ inches high. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Black to tip of last cluster made, * ch 4, sc in tip of next cluster. Repeat from * across. Work along other side of clusters in same way. Break off.
   Sew Initials to center of towel. With Black embroider outline stitch around one side of each initial.

GARLAND ... 1st row: Work as for 1st row of Initial until piece measures 20 inches. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Black and work as for 2nd row of Initial along one side of clusters only. Now work along other side of clusters as follows: * Ch 4, sc in tip of next cluster, ch 4, skip next 2 clusters, sc in tip of next cluster. Repeat from * across until piece is long enough to go around Initials. Break off. Sew to towel form­ing oval Garland.

EDGING ... 1st row: Work as for 1st row of Initial until piece measures 1½ times length desired.

HEADING ... Work as for 2nd row of Initial along one side of clusters only.
   Now work along other side of clus­ters as follows: 1st row: Ch 4, sc in tip of next cluster, * ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each st, make tr in tip of next cluster, d tr in tip of next cluster, tr in tip of next cluster, thread over and draw through all loops on hook, (ch 4, sc in tip of next cluster) twice. Repeat from * across until piece is length desired, ending with (ch 4, sc in tip of next cluster) twice. Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc, * ch 4, dc in tip of next group of sts, (ch 4, dc in next sc) twice. Repeat from * across. Break off.
   Make another edging in same way. Sew one edging to each end of towel.
