J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64
: 1 ball of No. 37 Dk. Lavender and a small amount of No. 43 Dk. Yellow, and
J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY FLOSS, Art. A. or B.11: 1 skein of No. 51-B Dk. Golden Brown.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
3 snap fasteners. ... A doll 11 inches tall; chest 5 ½ inches.

SKIRT ... Starting at waist with Dk. Lavender, ch 39. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, * 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Skip first dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 4th row until Skirt measures 5 ½ inches. Break off. Sew narrow edges together, leaving 1 ¼ inches for back opening.

BODICE ... 1st row: Attach Lavender to first st on starting chain of Skirt, ch 3, dc in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Work as for 4th row of Skirt. 4th row: Skip first dc, * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 8 dc (for back). Ch 3, turn. 6th row: Work as for 4th row of Skirt. Break off. Attach thread to opposite side of back opening on Bodice, ch 3 and work as for other side of back.

FRONT ... 1st row: Leaving 5 dc free for armhole on last complete row, attach Lavender to next dc, ch 3, dc in each dc across to within last 5 dc. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Work as for 4th row of Skirt. Break off. Attach Lavender to first st on last row of back of Bodice, sc in each st across, ch 5, sc in each st across front, ch 5, sc in each remaining st. Break off.

SLEEVE ... 1st rnd: Attach Lavender at underarm, ch 3, dc closely around armhole, make 2 dc in side of each row and 1 dc in each ch across shoulder. Join to top of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. 3rd to 9th rnds incl: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join. Break off at end of 9th rnd.

CUFF ... Attach Yellow to joining on last rnd. 1st and 2nd rnds: Work as for 3rd rnd of sleeve. Break off. Work other sleeve the same way.

SKIRT BAND ... Same as Cuff.

COLLAR ... With Yellow make a chain long enough to reach around neck of dress. 1st row: Work as for first row of Skirt. 2nd row: Work as for 4th row of Skirt. Break off.

FLOWER (Make 8) ... Starting at center with Yellow, ch 2. In 2nd ch from hook make (ch 3, dc, ch 3 and sc) 6 times. Join and break off.

PANTALOONS ... With Lavender make a chain long enough to reach around hips. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 3, dc in each ch around. Join. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Ch 3, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th and 6th rnds: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join. Fold in half, having an even number of sts free on each side for leg openings, sl st in opposite side of piece.

Now work legs as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join. Repeat first rnd until leg measures 3 inches. Break off. Attach thread to same place as sl st was made on crotch and work other leg the same way.

HAT ... With Lavender, ch 17. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across and in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 11 inches. Break off. Gather one long edge slightly. Drape like turban.

Lace a double strand of Lavender through 3rd from last rnd on each leg. Lace a double strand through first rnd of Pantaloons and last Lavender rnd on Sleeves. Tie in bows. With embroidery floss, embroider feather st around Collar, Cuffs and Skirt Band. Make a French knot in center of each flower. Sew Collar and flowers in place. Sew snap fasteners to back opening.
