MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET. Size 30:

Small Ball:
J. & P. Coats—14 balls of White or Ecru or 18 balls of any color.
          or
Clark's O.N.T.—21 balls of White, Ecru or any color.

Big Ball:
J. & P. Coats—7 balls of White or Ecru.

Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11.

This amount is sufficient for a centerpiece 14½ inches square, 4 place doilies 12½ inches square, 4 bread and butter plate doilies 8 inches square, and 4 glass doilies 6 inches square.

GAUGE: 5 sps make 1 inch; 5 rows make 1 inch.

CENTERPIECE … Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain 18 inches long (16 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across until there are 72 sps. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc (sp over sp made); (ch 2, dc in next dc) 25 times; 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl over sp made); make 5 more bls, 8 sps, 6 bls, 25 sps, ch 2, skip 2 sts of turning ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Make 25 sps, 1 bl, dc in 18 dc (6 bls over 6 bls made); make 1 more bl, 6 sps, 8 bls, 25 sps. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: 24 sps, 10 bls, 4 sps, 10 bls, 24 sps. Ch 5, turn. 5th row: 23 sps, 5 bls, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc) twice (2 sps over 2 bls made); 4 bls, 4 sps, 4 bls, 2 sps, 5 bls, 23 sps. Ch 5, turn. Starting with 6th row, follow chart to top. Do not fasten off, but work sc completely around, keeping work flat. Fasten off.

PLACE DOILY (Make 4) … Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain 15 inches long. 1st row: Work as for 1st row of Centerpiece until there are 62 sps. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. Starting with 2nd row, follow chart to top. Do not fasten off but work sc completely around, keeping work flat. Fasten off.

BREAD AND BUTTER PLATE DOILY (Make 4) … Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain 10 inches long. 1st row: Work as for 1st row of Centerpiece until there are 41 sps. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. Starting with 2nd row, follow chart to top. Do not fasten off but work sc around, keeping work flat. Fasten off.

GLASS DOILY (Make 4) … Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain 8 inches long. 1st row: Work as for 1st row of Centerpiece until there are 29 sps. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. Starting with 2nd row, follow chart to top. Do not fasten off, but work sc around, keeping work flat. Fasten off.
     Block pieces to measurements given.
