MATERIALS:
CLARK'S O.N.T. or J. & P. COATS BIG BALL BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, size 30:
Clark's O.N.T.—28 balls of White or Ecru.
J. & P. Coats—28 balls of White or Ecru, or 37 balls of any color.
MILWARD'S Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11.

GAUGE … Each motif measures about 4¼ inches in diameter before blocking. For a tablecloth about 60 x 80 inches, make 14 x 19 motifs.

FIRST MOTIF … Starting at center, ch 10, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 23 d c in ring; sl st in 3rd st of ch-3. 2nd rnd: (Ch 7, skip 2 d c, s c in next d c) 8 times. 3rd rnd: Sl st in first 3 ch of ch-7 loop, s c in same loop, * ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-7 to 1st s c. 4th rnd: 13 s c in each loop around; join. 5th rnd: * S c in next 5 s c, 3 s c in next s c, s c in next 5 s c, skip 2 s c. Repeat from * around, ending with s c in next 5 s c. 6th and 7th rnds: * Skip 2 s c, s c in next 5 s c, 3 s c in next s c, s c in next 5 s c. Repeat from * around, ending with skip 1 s c, sl st in next s c. 8th rnd: Ch 6, * skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, ch 3, skip 2 s c. In next s c make s c, ch 5 and s c; ch 3, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, ch 3, skip 3 s c, d c in next s c, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to 3rd ch of ch-6. 9th rnd: * Ch 5, in next ch-5 loop make s c, half d c, 5 d c, half d c and s c (a petal); ch 5, s c in next d c. Repeat from * around; join.
   10th rnd: Ch 6, skip 2 ch of next ch-5 loop, s c in next ch, * ch 5, s c in center d c of next petal, ch 5, skip 2 ch of next ch-5 loop, s c in next ch, ch 3, d c in next s c, ch 3, skip 2 ch, s c in next ch. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3; join to 3rd st of ch-6. 11th rnd: 3 s c in ch-3 loop, * 5 s c in each of next 2 loops, 3 s c in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around, ending with 3 s c in last loop; join. 12th, 13th and 14th rnds: S c in each s c around. 15th rnd: * Ch 5, skip 3 s c, in next s c make d c, ch 3 and d c; ch 5, skip 3 s c, s c in next s c. Repeat from * around; join. 16th rnd: Ch 6, * in ch-3 sp make (d c, ch 2) 3 times and d c. Ch 3, d c in next s c, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to 3rd st of ch-6. Fasten off. This completes one motif.

SECOND MOTIF … Work 1st 15 rnds as for first motif. 16th rnd: Ch 6, in ch-3 sp make (d c, ch 2) 3 times and d c. Ch 3, d c in next s c, ch 3- In next ch-3 sp make d c, ch 2 and d c. Ch 1, sl st in corresponding ch-2 of first motif, ch 1, d c back in ch-3 of second motif where last d c was made, ch 2, d c in same place. Join the next 2 points to adjacent 2 points of first motif in same manner, and complete rnd as for first motif.
   Make necessary number of motifs, joining 3 points of each motif to 3 points of adjacent motifs, leaving one point free on each motif between joinings, for fill-in lace.

FILL-IN LACE … Starting at center, ch 10, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 16 s c in ring; join. 2nd rnd: Ch 8, s c in center sp of a free point of any large motif, * ch 8, skip 1 s c of ring, s c in next s c, ch 13, s c in joining of large motifs, ch 13, skip 1 s c of ring, s c in next s c, ch 8, s c in center sp of next free point of next motif. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 13, skip 1 s c of ring, sl st at base of ch-8 first made. Fasten off. Fill in all spaces in this manner. Block cloth to measurements given.
