Sunflower Table Doily Pattern #6

MATERIALS—Lily Soft Spun Yarn:—8-balls Lt. Green; Lily Pearl Cotton size 5:—2-balls each Yellow and Green and 1-ball Dk. Brown (sufficient for 4 doilies). Crochet hooks sizes 1 and 5.
Size—12 x 18 inches.

In Soft Spun Yarn and size 1 hook, make a chain 22" long. Sk last 4 ch, dc in next 25 ch, (ch 3, sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch) 9 times, dc in next 25 ch. Cut and rip excess ch. ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, holding back on hook the last lp of each dc, make dc in last 2 dc, thread over and pull thru all 3 lps on hook (Cluster made). Start all rows in this way. Dc in next 23 dc, 3 dc in next (end) dc, * dc in next ch-3 sp, (2 dc in same sp, 2 dc in next sp) made into a tight Cluster, dc in same sp, ** 5 dc in next st. Repeat from * 7 times and from * to ** again. 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 25 sts. ROW 3—Ch 3, turn, (dc in last 2 dc) for a Cluster, dc in next 22 dc, (dc in next 2 sts) for a Cluster, ch 3, sl st in same st with last dc, * (ch 3, sk 3 dc, tr in Cluster in angle, ch 3, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc) 9 times, ch 3, (dc in same dc, dc in next dc) for a Cluster, dc in next 24 sts. ROW 4—Repeat Row 3 to *. A 3-dc Cluster in next ch-3 sp, 5 dc in tr, * dc in next sp, (2 dc in same sp, 2 dc in next sp) for a Cluster, dc in same sp, 5 dc in tr. Repeat from * 7 times. A 3-dc Cluster in next sp, sl st in tip of ch-3, ch 3, (dc in same st, dc in next dc) for a Cluster, dc in next 24 sts. ROW 5—Ch 3, turn, (dc in last 2 dc) for a Cluster, dc in next 24 sts, (ch 3, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, tr in next Cluster in angle) 8 times, ch 3, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, dc in top of next ch-3, dc in next 25 sts. Repeat Rows 2, 3, 4 and 5 thru 28 rows of dc on end bands. Fasten off. Turn, sk last 25 dc, sl st in top of next ch-3, (ch 2, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 3 dc, dc in next Cluster) 8 times, ch 2, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 3 dc, sl st in top of next ch-3. Fasten off. Turn, sc in each st across end bands, 3 sc in each ch-2 sp, sc in each st between sps. Fasten off. Repeat across opposite long side.

STEM—In Green Pearl Cotton and size 5 hook, ch 70, sk last ch, 69 sc on ch. Fasten off.

LARGE LEAF—In Green Pearl Cotton, ch 22, sk last ch, sc in next ch, ch 1, dc in next ch, 2 tr, 7 dtr, 3 tr, 3 dc, 2 hdc and 1 sc on ch, (sl st, ch 2, sl st) in next (end) sc, (1 sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 3 tr, 7 dtr, 2 tr and 1 dc) on other side of ch, ch 1, sc in end ch, ch 5, sk last ch, sl st in next 4 ch, sl st in end of leaf. Fasten off.

MED. LEAF—Start with ch-20 and repeat except make only 5 dtr on each side.

SMALL LEAF—Start with ch-17 and repeat, except make only 2 dtr on each side.

FLOWERCenter—In Yellow, ch 4, 3 sc in 2d ch from hook, sc in next ch, 4 sc in end ch, sc in 2 sts on other side of ch. ROW 2—In back lps, (2 sc in next sc) 10 times. ROW 3—* (2 sc in next sc) 3 times, sc in 7 sc. Repeat from * once. ** Sl st in next sc. Petal—* Ch 12, sk last ch, (sl st, sc, hdc, 2 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc and hdc) on ch, sk 1 sc on Center, sl st in both lps of next sc. Repeat from * thru 13 petals. Fasten off. In Brown repeat Flower Center to ** in Row 3. Sc in next 26 sc, sl st in next 3 sc. Fasten off. Turn wrong-side- up and sew on flower, padding with cotton. Following illustration, sew motifs on one end band. Repeat on other end. Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
