MATERIALS—Lily MERCROCHET Cotton:—1-ball each White, Nile Green and Shd. Pinks. Crochet hook size 12. Napkin Holder 5 inches in diameter.

TOP SECTION—With White, ch 8, join with sl st to form a ring, ch 5, dc in ring, * ch 2, dc in ring. Repeat from * 9 times, ch 2, sl st in 3d st of ch-5, sl st in next ch-1 sp. ROW 2—Ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, remove hook, insert it back in ch preceding 1st dc, catch lp and draw thru (pc st made), * ch 4, 5 dc in next ch-1 sp, remove hook, insert it back in ch preceding 1st dc, catch lp and draw thru. Repeat from * around, ch 3, sl st in 1st pc st. ROW 3—Ch 9, * a 5-tr pc st in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, tr in next pc st, ch 4, repeat from * around, ch 3, sl st in 5th st of ch-9, sc in next ch-3 sp. ROW 4—* Ch 5, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. ROW 5—Sl st into lp, * ch 5, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around. ROWS 6 & 7—Make ch-6 lps around. ROW 8—6 sc in each lp around. Sl st in back lp of 1st 2 sc. ROW 9—Ch 3, a 4 dc pc st in same st, * ch 4, sk 2 sc, a 5-dc pc st in back lp of next sc. Repeat from * around (48 pc sts), ch 3, sl st in 1st pc st. Fasten off. ROW 10—With Green, sc in last ch-3 lp, * ch 6, sk next lp, holding back on hook the last lp of each tr, make 3 tr in next lp, thread over and draw thru 4 lps on hook (Cluster made), ch 6, a 3-tr Cluster in same lp, ch 6, sk next lp, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around. ROW 11—Ch 6, a 3-tr Cluster between next 2 Clusters, * (ch 5, a 3-tr Cluster in same lp) 3 times, ch 1, tr in sc between shells, ch 1, a Cluster between next 2 Clusters. Repeat from * around, ch 1, sl st in 5th st of 1st ch-6. ROW 12—Ch 12, * sk 2 Clusters, 6 sc in next ch-5 lp, ch 7, tr in tr between shells, ch 7, repeat from * around, join to 5th st of 1st ch-12. ROW 13—Ch 3, 6 dc in next lp, * sk next sc, dc in next 4 sc, (7 dc in next lp) twice. Repeat from * around, join. ROW 14—Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join. If work is done more loosely than model, making circle too large for holder, omit Row 14. ROW 15—* Ch 4, sk 2 dc, sc in next. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

FLOWER—In Shd. Pinks, ch 9, join with sl st to form a ring, * ch 7, sc in ring. Repeat from * 11 times. ROW 2—Ch 1, sc in next lp, ch 5, dc in lp, (ch 2, dc in same lp) 3 times, * (ch 2, dc) 5 times in next lp. Repeat from * around, ch 2, sl st in 3d st of ch-5. ROW 3—Sc in next ch-2 sp, * ch 4, sc in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * around. Fasten off. Make 12 flowers.

UNDER SECTION—With White ch 10, join to form a ring. Ch 3, 23 dc in ring, sl st in ch-3. ROW 2—Ch 5, 2 tr in same st, * ch 2, sk 1 dc, 3 tr in next dc. Repeat from * around, ch 2, sl st in 1st ch-5. ROW 3—Ch 5, * 3 tr in next tr, 1 tr in next tr, ch 2, tr in 1st tr in next group. Repeat from * around, ch 2. join. ROW 4—Ch 5, tr in each tr around with 3 tr in center tr of each group. Make ch-2 between groups. Join. Repeat Row 4 five times. ROW 10—Ch 3, dc in each tr around with ch-2 between groups. Join. If Row 14 is omitted on Top Section, omit Row 10 on Under Section to match. Fasten off. EDGE—Attach White to a ch-2 sp in last row. With Top and Under Sections back-to-back, ch 2, sl st in a ch-4 lp on Top Section, * ch 2, sk 2 dc on Under Section, sc back in next dc, ch 2, sl st in next lp on Top Section. Repeat from * across 8 groups on Under Section. Then working on Under Section only, make (ch 4, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc) repeated around remainder of row. Fasten off. Work a 2d Top Section and Under Section.

Stretch and pin down in size to fit holder. Steam and press dry thru a cloth. Sew a flower around edge of each Top Section directly above each tr in Row 12. Slip over each side of napkin holder and tack lps on edge tog. around lower edge.
