Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl until piece measures 6 inches, ending with the 5th row. Break off.
With Green make a chain 9 inches long. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off. Make 2 strips same as this 7 inches long, 2 strips 5 inches long and 2 strips 3 inches long. Pass these strips of contrasting color diagonally through every other row of loops formed by tr's, thus forming diamonds. Tack ends in place on wrong side. With 4 strands of Green, make a chain to go around pot holder, forming a loop at one corner. Sew in place.

PADDING … Cut flannel or cotton batting slightly smaller, and lining material slightly larger, than crocheted piece. Place padding between crocheted piece and lining. Turn under edges of lining and sew to edges of crocheted piece with neat over-and-over stitches. For pot holders consisting of 2 crocheted pieces, insert padding between crochet and sew up edges.
