MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 1 ball each of No. 32 Purple, No. 69 Lt. Steel Blue, No. 26 Nile Green, No. 11 Orange and No. 1 White, and 2 balls of No. 48 Hunter's Green, or
J. & P. Coats "Knit-Cro-Sheen," 1 ball each of No. 32 Purple, No. 70 Blue Jewel, No. 26 Nile Green, No. 43 Dk. Yellow, No. 1 White and No. 48 Hunter's Green.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A mesh dish cloth, 18 inches square. 1½ yards of green grosgrain ribbon, 1 inch wide.

FIRST FLOWER ... Starting at center with Purple, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 20 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make tr in next 2 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); ch 4, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc. 3rd rnd: * 5 sc over next ch-4 bar, in tip of next cluster make sc, ch 3 and sc (picot made); 5 sc over next ch-4 bar. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
SECOND FLOWER ... Starting at center with Nile Green, work as for First Flower until 2nd rnd is com­pleted. 3rd rnd: 5 sc over next ch-4 bar, sc in tip of next cluster, ch 1, sl st in any picot on First Flower, ch 1, sc in tip of same cluster on Second Flower. Complete rnd as before (no more joinings). Make a Blue flower the same way, joining as Second Flower was joined to First Flower, leaving 2 picots free on one side for inner edge. Make a White and an Orange flower, joining the same way.
Make necessary number of flowers, joining as before and arranging colors in same order, until piece is long enough to go around 3 sides. Sew flowers around cloth.
EDGING ... 1st row: Attach Hunter's Green to last picot joined on last flower, (ch 7, sc in next picot) twice; ch 7, skip 5 sc, sc in next sc, * (ch 7, sc in next picot) twice; ch 3, sc in first free picot on next flower. Repeat from * across side to last flower, ending with sc in last free picot, ch 7, skip 5 sc, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make tr in next sc, tr in next joining, skip 5 sc, tr in next sc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (corner cluster made); (ch 7, sc in next picot) 3 times; complete rnd, making cluster in next corner as before and working over last flower same as First Flower, sl st in last picot joined on last flower. Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: * Sc in next sp, ch 7. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in last sc. Turn. 3rd row: * 7 sc in each of next 2 loops, in next loop make 4 sc, ch 3 and 4 sc. Repeat from * around. Break off.
POCKET ... 1st row of Flowers: Make 1 Nile Green, 1 Orange, 1 Blue and 1 Purple flower, joining as before, leaving 3 picots free on one side for outer edge (top row of pocket). 2nd row of Flowers: Make a Green flower, joining to first free picot preceding joining on inner edge of Purple flower and next free picot on Blue flower. Make a White flower, joining to first free picot preceding last joining on Green flower, to next free picot on Blue flower and to next free picot on Orange flower. Make a Purple flower, joining to first free picot preceding last joining on White flower, to next free picot on Orange flower and to next free picot on Green flower. 3rd row of Flowers: Make an Orange flower joining to first free picot pre­ceding last joining on Green flower and to next free picot on White flower. Make a Green flower, joining to first free picot following last joining on Orange flower and to next free picot on White flower.
Make a Blue flower, joining to first free picot following last joining on Green flower, to next free picot on White flower and to next free picot on Purple flower.
EDGING ... 1st rnd: Attach thread to first free picot on 3rd flower at top of Pocket, sc in same place, (ch 7, sc in next picot) twice; ch 1, sc in next free picot on next flower, (ch 7, sc in next picot, ch 7, skip 5 sc, sc in next sc) twice; (ch 7, sc in next picot) twice; ch 1, sc in next free picot on next flower, (ch 7, sc in next picot) twice; ch 1, sc in next free picot on next flower, (ch 7, sc in next picot) 3 times; ch 1, sc in next free picot on next flower, ch 7, sc in next picot, ch 7, skip 5 sc, sc in next sc (center point of pocket). Complete other half to correspond. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st to center of next sp, sc in same sp, * ch 7, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: * 7 sc in next loop, in next loop make 4 sc, ch 3 and 4 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Sew pocket in place.
Gather in top of apron to ruffle slightly. Sew ribbon to apron, leaving an equal amount free on both sides for ties.
