MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70: 1 ball each of No. 48 Hunter's Green, No. 8 Blue, No. 9 Yellow, No. 37 Dk. Lavender, No. 4 Pink, No. 1 White and No. 15-B Shaded Bright Reds, and
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green, or
J. & P. Coats "Knit-Cro-Sheen": 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 13.
¼ yard of millinery wire. Small safety pin.

WILD ROSE ... Starting at center with Shaded Bright Reds, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: (Sc in ring, ch 5) 5 times. Join with sl st to first sc.
FIRST PETAL ... 1st row: 6 sc in next loop. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in first sc, 2 dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each dc across and in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first sc, dc in next 2 sc, 2 dc in each sc across to within last 3 sc, dc in next 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. 5th and 6th rows: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows. 7th row: Repeat 3rd row. 8th row: Skip first sc, hold­ing back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 5 sc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook, thus working off 6 dc as 1 dc, dc in each sc across to within last 6 sc, work off 6 dc as 1 dc as before. Ch 1, turn. 9th row: Sc in each dc across, working off first 3 sc and last 3 sc as 1 sc. Ch 3, turn. 10th row: Skip first sc, work off next 4 dc as 1 dc, dc in each sc across to within last 5 sc, work off next 5 dc as 1 dc. Break off. Attach thread to next loop and work as for First Petal. Make 3 more petals in same way.
STAMENS ... Starting at base with Yellow, ch 9, * thread over, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook and draw loop through, (thread over, insert hook in same place and draw loop through) twice; thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 5, sl st in first ch made, ch 8. Repeat from * once more, thread over, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook and draw loop through, (thread over, insert hook in same place and draw loop through) twice; thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 5, sl st in first ch made. Break off. Sew Stamens in place.
STAR OF BETHLEHEM ... Start­ing at center with White ch 2. 1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. 2nd rnd: Sc in each sc around. Join. 3rd rnd: Sc in first sc, * ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
CENTER ... With Yellow, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 12 sc in ring. Join and break off. Sew to flower. Make 1 Lavender, 1 Pink and 3 Yel­low flowers in same way.
FORGET-ME-NOT ... Starting at center with Blue, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring.
FIRST PETAL ... 1st row: 4 sc in ring. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in next 3 sc. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 dc and in top of turning chain, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); ch 3, sl st in tip of cluster. Now, working along side of petal, (ch 3, sl st in base of next row) twice; sl st in ring. Make 4 more petals like this. Join and break off.
CENTER ... Work as for Center of Star of Bethlehem. Sew to center of flower. Make 2 more Forget-me-nots in same way.
SMALL LEAF (Make 6) ... Start­ing at long side with Hunter's Green, Size 70, ch 40. 1st row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6 ch, (ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, sl st in same place as last st on start­ing chain, sl st in next 4 ch) 3 times; sl st in each remaining ch across. Break off. Attach thread between last 2 leaves on opposite side of starting chain, ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch. Working along oppo­site side of starting chain, sl st in next 4 ch, ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, sl st in same ch on starting chain. Break off.
LARGE LEAF ... Starting at center with Hunter's Green, Size 70, ch 15. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in next 9 ch, dc in next ch, 5 half dc in next ch; working along opposite side of starting chain, make dc in next ch, tr in next 9 ch, dc in next ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first st, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc make dc in next 2 sts, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (1 dc decreased); (2 dc in next st, 1 dc increased—dc in next st) 5 times; 2 dc in each of next 5 sts, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) 5 times; dec 1 dc, dc in next St. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, dec 1 dc, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) 5 times; 2 dc in each of next 6 dc, (dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc) 5 times; dc in next dc, dec 1 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first dc, dec 1 dc, * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * across to within last 3 sts, dec 1 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Break off.
Cut 3 pieces of wire 3 inches long. Wind Green Pearl Cotton tightly around each wire. Sew 2 Small Leaves to each of the wires. Sew Small Flowers to Small Leaves. Sew Wild Rose and Large Leaf in place. Wind Green Pearl Cotton around all wires and fas­ten securely. Sew safety pin to back.
