Collar Pattern, No. 2260

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mer­cerized Crochet, size 10, 2 balls of White and 1 ball of Navy blue.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6.
A small button.

Starting at neck edge with white, ch 222 (to measure 1½ inches more than your own neck measurement). 1st row: Half d c in 3rd ch from hook, half d c in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. Hereafter, pick up only the back loop of each st. 2nd to 14 rows incl: Half d c in each half d c across, making 5 increases at equal intervals, and being careful not to have in­ creases fall over those of previous row. Ch 2, turn (284 half d c in 14th row). 15th row: Ch 5 (to count as d tr), 2 d tr in 1st half d c, leaving the last 2 loops of each d tr on hook, then thread over, draw through all loops on hook (thus a d tr-cluster is made). * Ch 3, skip 3 half d c, 3 d tr-cluster in next half d c. Repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. 16th row: * S c in tip of cluster, 4 s c in ch-3 sp. Repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. 17th row: S c in each s c across. Break off. Fasten 8 strands of Navy Blue to safety pin, and overcast the edge of collar, inserting safety pin into each sp. Sew button to left side, at neck edge. Make a button-loop on opposite edge.
