Starting at bottom of chart, ch 140 (to measure about 10½ inches). 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook; * ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across (45 sps). Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc (2 sps over 2 sps made); (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) 4 times (4 bls over 4 sps made); make (2 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 4 bls, 1 sp, 4 bls) twice; 2 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 4 bls, 1 sp, ch 2, sk 2 sts of turning ch, dc in next st. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Sp over sp, bl over sp, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp over bl made), dc in next 6 dc (2 bls over 2 bls made); (3 sps, 1 bl, 3 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 1 bl, 1 sp, 2 bls) twice; 3 sps, 1 bl, 3 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 1 bl, 1 sp. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: Follow chart across. Ch 5, turn. 5th row: 1 sp, 2 bls, 4 sps, 1 bl, ch 5, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc (a loop made); bl over sp, (4 sps, 3 bls, 4 sps, 1 bl, 1 loop, 1 bl) twice; 4 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp. Ch 5, turn. 6th row: 1 sp, (1 bl, 4 sps, 1 bl, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5, sk 3 dc, dc in next dc. 1 bl, 4 sps) 3 times; 1 bl, 1 sp. Ch 5, turn. 7th row: 5 sps, (1 bl, 3 loops, 1 bl, 7 sps) twice; 1 bl, 3 loops, 1 bl, 5 sps. Ch 5, turn. 8th and 9th rows: Follow chart across. 10th row: 4 sps, 2 dc in next loop, dc in center ch of same loop (bl made over loop), (3 loops, ch 5, dc in center ch of next loop, 2 dc in same loop, dc in next dc, 5 sps, bl over loop) twice; 3 loops, bl over loop, 4 sps. Ch 5, turn. 11th and 12th rows: Follow chart. Ch 5, turn. 13th row: 1 sp, 2 bls, (4 sps, bl over loop, ch 2, bl over loop, 4 sps, 3 bls) twice; 4 sps, bl over loop, ch 2, bl over loop, 4 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp. Ch 5, turn. 14th and 15th rows: Follow chart to top.
   Now repeat 2nd to 15th rows inclusive 2 more times, then repeat 2nd and 1st rows. Do not fasten off but work sps all around as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 8, dc in top of last dc made, * ch 2, dc in end of next row. Repeat from * across to next corner, ch 5, dc in same place as last dc (corner made). Continue thus around, joining last ch-2 with sl st in 3rd st of starting chain. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 5, * in center ch of corner make dc, ch 5 and dc, make ch-2 sps across to next corner. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Work sc evenly all around edge. Join and fasten off. Starch lightly and block to measurement given.
