Materials: Choose one of the following threads in White or Ecru:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, size 50, 6 balls.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 50, 4 balls.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, size 50, 3 balls.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12.

When completed, head rest measures about 17½ inches across and about 12 inches deep at the center. Each arm piece measures about 8½ inches x 10½ inches.

Gauge: 7 sps or bls make 1 inch; 7 rows make 1 inch.

Head Rest. Starting at top, make a chain (about 22 ch sts to the inch) to measure about 1 yard long. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each ch across until 370 d c are made (turning ch to count as 1 d c); cut off remaining ch, turn. 2nd row: Ch 3 (always to count as d c), d c in each of next 3 d c (1 bl made). * Ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c (1 sp made). Repeat from * across, ending row with 4 d c (1 bl). Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 bl, 1 sp, d c across row to within last sp of previous row (119 bls), then sp over sp, bl over bl. Ch 3, turn. Hereafter follow chart up to 66th row (last long row), turn. Next row: Sl st to 4th d c, ch 3, 3 d c, 1 sp, 1 bl, 24 sps, 1 bl, 1 sp, 1 bl, turn. Sl st to 4th d c, and follow chart across row. Continue in this manner until scallop has been completed. Break off. Skip next 2 bls at base of scallop, attach thread at d c preceding sp, ch 3 and complete center scallop in same manner. Break off. Complete last scallop in same manner.

Arm Pieces. Starting at top, make a chain to measure about 10 inches long. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each ch across until there are 178 d c in row. Hereafter follow chart until piece is completed.
