Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" INFANTS WOOL, ARTICLE W5
7—⅞ oz. Balls of Blue or Baby Colors will make the entire set.
Any of the following American Thread Company Products may be used for Trim.
1—100 yd. Ball "STAR" Rayon Crochet, Article 700.
1—100 yd. Ball "Sillateen Sansil", Article 102.
2—50 yd. Balls "STAR" Pearl Cotton, Article 90.
1 yd. ½ inch Ribbon.
2 yds. ¼ inch Ribbon.
1—Bone Crochet Hook No. 2 or No. 3.
1—Steel Crochet Hook No. 5 or No. 6.

JACKET

With bone crochet hook, ch 57, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 12 sts of ch, ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 42 sts of ch, ch 3, turn. (The ch 3 counts as 1 d c.)
2nd Row. Working in the back loop of st only, 1 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 40 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row. Working in both loops, 1 s c in each of the 13 s c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 41 d c, 1 d c in the 3rd st of ch 3, ch 3, turn.
Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows 8 times, then work 1 more row same as 2nd row.
21st Row. 1 s c in each of the 13 s c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 24 for Sleeve, turn.
22nd Row. 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts of ch (cuff), ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 17 sts of ch working in back loop of st only, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 s c in next s c, ch 1, turn.
23rd Row. Working in both loops, 1 s c in next s c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 23 d c, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 5 s c of cuff, ch 1, turn.
24th Row. Working in back loop, 1 s c in each of the next 5 s c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 23 d c, ch 1, 1 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c of yoke, ch 1, turn.
25th Row. Working in both loops, 1 s c in each of the 13 s c of yoke, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the 23 d c, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the 5 s c of cuff, ch 1, turn.
26th Row. Working in back loop, 1 s c in each of the 5 s c of cuff, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the 23 d c, ch 1, 1 s c in next s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th rows 8 times then repeat 23rd, 24th, and 25th rows once and repeat 24th row once.
63rd Row. 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c of yoke, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 38 for back, turn.
64th Row. 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 34 sts of ch, working in back loop, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c of yoke, ch 1, turn.
65th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 41 d c, 1 d c in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, turn.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 19 times, then repeat 2nd row once.
Repeat 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th rows once, then repeat 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th rows 8 times, repeat 23rd, 24th, and 25th rows once, then repeat 24th row.
Next Row. 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c of yoke, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 38 for front, turn.
Repeat 64th and 65th rows once. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 9 times, break yarn. Sew sleeve and underarm seams. With right side of work toward you, attach yarn at neck edge, ch 1, 1 s c in same space with joining, * skip 1 row, 1 s c in next row, repeat from * across neck edge, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c around neck, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. Working in back loop of st only, 1 s c in each s c, break yarn.
With right side of jacket toward you, attach yarn at lower edge of front and work 1 s c in each d c, 1 s c in ch 1, 1 s c in each s c to neck band, working around neck, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from *, then work 1 row of s c down front in same manner as right front, break yarn. With steel crochet hook, attach trim thread at lower edge of center back, * ch 3, 1 d c in same space, ch 2, s c in next row, ch 4, sl st in same space, ch 3, s c in next row, repeat from * across back.
Work fronts as follows: * ch 3, 1 d c in same space, ch 2, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, ch 4, sl st in same space, ch 3, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to neck edge, continue in same manner around neck edge working over the 2 ch meshes, work opposite front and back in same manner, break thread. Work edge around sleeve, finish with ribbon bows.

BONNET

Ch 35, 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn (the ch 3 counts as 1 d c). All odd rows are worked in both loops and all even rows are worked in the back loop of st only.
2nd & 3rd Rows. 1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn.
4th Row. 1 d c in each d c, 2 d c in the ch 3 at end of row (back of bonnet), ch 3, turn. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows 3 times.
11th to 57th Rows. Work even in d c.
58th Row. 1 d c in each d c omitting the ch 3 at back of bonnet.
59th Row. 1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn. Repeat 58th and 59th rows 3 times, then work 3 more rows even, break yarn.
BAND AT FRONT OF BONNET. With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in 1st st, ch 1, 1 s c in 1st row, * ch 1, 1 s c in next row, repeat from * 13 times, then over the next 38 rows, work 1 s c in every other row. Continue working over the last 15 rows in same manner as the 1st 15 rows, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c and over each ch 1, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row. Working in back loop of st only, 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn (free loop of st to be worked in later).
4th Row. Working in both loops, 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows 3 times, break yarn. With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in last row of back of bonnet, work 1 s c in each of the next 12 rows, over the next 44 rows, work 1 s c in every other row, then work 1 s c in each of the last 12 rows, break yarn. Fold work, sew the 1st and last 10 rows together for back of bonnet.
CIRCLE FOR BACK OF BONNET. Ch 2, 6 s c in 1st st of ch, do not join or turn rounds.
2nd Round. 2 s c in each s c.
3rd Round. * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.
4th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around. Work 4 more rounds in same manner as 4th round having 1 more s c between increasing points in each round.
9th Round. Working in back loop of st only, 1 s c in each s c, break yarn. Sew circle in position to back of bonnet.
BEADING. Join yarn in band at front of bonnet, ch 4, skip 1 row, 1 d c in next row, * ch 1, skip 1 row, 1 d c in next row, repeat from * twice, continue in same manner skipping 1 d c around neck and 1 row of band at opposite side, ch 3, turn.
EDGE. 1 d c in same space with ch 3, * 1 s c in next ch 1 mesh, 2 d c in next ch 1 mesh, repeat from * to end of row, break yarn.
RUFFLE. Attach yarn in free loop of 2nd row of band and work 2 d c in each free loop across band, break yarn. Repeat ruffle working over the free loops of 6th and 10th rows.
Attach trim thread and finish each ruffle with edge in the same manner as front of jacket. Lace ribbon through beading.

BOOTEES

SOLES. Ch 18, work 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 2 s c in next st of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 13 sts of ch, 2 s c in next st of ch, 3 s c in last st of ch working on the other side of ch, 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in each of the next 13 sts, 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in same space with 1st 2 s c, join.
2nd Round. Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, 2 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 15 s c, 2 s c in each of the next 5 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 15 s c, 2 s c in each remaining s c, join.
3rd Round—TOE. Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, 2 d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts, (instep), 1 s c in each of the next 11 sts, 2 s c in each of the next 6 sts, (heel) 1 s c in each of the next 11 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts, 2 d c in each remaining st of toe, join.
4th Round. Ch 3, work 1 d c in each st, join, break yarn.
UPPER SECTION. Ch 21, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts of ch, ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 14 sts of ch.
2nd Row. Working in the back loop of st only, ch 3, (the ch 3 counts as 1 d c) 1 d c in each of the next 13 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 5 s c.
3rd Row. Working in both loops, ch 1, turn, 1 s c in each of the next 5 s c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 13 d c, 1 d c in the ch 3. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 3 times.
10th Row. Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 9 d c, ch 1, skip 1 d c, 1 s c in next d c.
11th Row. Ch 1, turn, 1 s c in next s c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 9 d c, 1 d c in the ch 3, ch 3, turn. Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times.
24th Row. 1 d c in each of the next 9 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 s c in s c, without turning work, 1 d c in each of the 2 free d c of 9th row, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 5 s c, ch 1, turn.
25th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 5 sts, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, working down the toe, 1 d c in next s c, 1 d c over the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 9 d c, 1 d c in the ch 3, ch 3, turn.
26th Row. 1 d c in each of the next 13 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 5 s c, ch 1, turn.
27th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 5 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 13 d c, 1 d c in the ch 3, ch 3, turn. Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times, break yarn and sew seam. Around lower edge of bootee work 1 row of s c having as many s c as d c in last row of soles, break yarn. Crochet or sew the soles and uppers together with the trim thread. Attach trim thread at top of bootee and working in s c, work 1 s c in each row of s c, 3 s c in each row of d c, join. Work 1 row of edge in same manner as front of jacket. Attach trim thread at opening at toe, work 1 row of s c all around, working 1 s c in each s c row only, then work 1 row of edge without skipping s c, lace ribbon through beading.

MITTS

Ch 33, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 7 sts of ch, ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 21 sts of ch, 1 s c in each of the last 2 sts of ch. Ch 1 to turn each row.
2nd Row. Working in back loop of st only, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 d c in each of the next 21 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 8 s c.
3rd Row. Working in both loops of st, 1 s c in each of the 8 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 21 d c, 1 s c in next s c, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. Working in back loop of st, 1 s c in s c, 1 d c in each of the 21 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 8 s c.
5th Row. Working in both loops of st, 1 s c in each of the 8 d c, ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 21 d c, 1 s c in next s c, skip 1 row, work 1 s c in the free s c of the preceding row. Repeat 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rows 4 times, break yarn. Sew side seams matching sts, sew opening at s c end of mitt.
Attach trim thread at cuff, work 1 s c in each row of s c and 3 s c in each row of d c.
2nd Row. Work edge in same manner as front of jacket, break thread. Lace ribbon through beading and tie in bow.

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED, ARTICLE W11
8—1 oz. Skeins White.
6—1 oz. Skeins Blue or any Color desired.
1—100 yd. Ball "STAR" Rayon Crochet, Article 700, White or any Color desired.
"STAR" Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton, Article 50, for Embroidery.
2  Skeins each—Blue, Pink and Green.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 6.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 5.

With Blue and bone crochet hook, ch 77, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Working in back loop of st only throughout, work 1 s c in each d c, drop Blue (when changing Color always complete last half of st with next Color); turn.
3rd Row. Attach White, ch 3 (counts as 1 d c) work 1 d c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. 1 s c in each d c, drop White, turn.
5th Row. Pick up Blue, work same as 3rd row.
6th Row. Work same as 4th row, drop Blue.
Repeat the last 4 rows 14 times.
Repeat the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rows once.
Work should measure about (17 x 24 inches).
BORDER. With right side of work toward you, attach White and work 1 row of s c all around working 3 s c in each corner st, join. (Do not turn this or the following rows.)
Next Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each s c working 3 s c in each corner st, join, break yarn.
Attach Blue and working in same manner work 4 rows Blue, 9 rows White and 4 rows Blue, break yarn.
EDGE. With right side of work toward you and steel hook, attach White Rayon, ch 4, work 4 d c in 1st st of ch, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, * ch 3, 4 d c over entire bar of s c just made, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * all around, join, break thread.
