Crocheted Soakers Pattern #5307

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" INFANTS WOOL, ARTICLE W5
4—⅞ oz. Balls White.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 1.

GAUGE. 8 sts = 1 inch. 5 rows = 1 inch.

WAISTBAND. Ch 11, work 10 s c on ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Working in back loop of st only throughout, 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts (eyelet), 1 s c in each remaining st, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c working 1 s c in each ch of eyelet, ch 1, turn.
Next 2 Rows. Work even in s c.
Repeat from 2nd row 20 times (85 rows).
Working along long edge of waistband, ch 2 (counts as 1 s d c), work 1 s d c in each row (s d c: thread over needle, insert in st, pull through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), ch 2, turn.
2nd Row. Working in back loop of st only work 1 s d c in each s d c, ch 2, turn. (Right side of work.)
3rd Row. Working in front loop of st only work 1 s d c in each s d c, ch 2, turn. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows until work measures 6½ inches or length desired from waistband ending on wrong side of work, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. Decrease 3 sts at beginning of row (slip st across sts), ch 2 (counts as 1 s d c) and work in pattern across row omitting the last 3 sts.
Repeat the last row 7 times.
Work 2 rows even, break yarn.
Work another section in same manner.
Sew sides and lower edges together.
With right side of work toward you, attach yarn at seam edge of leg, * ch 3, 3 d c in same st, skip the length of a d c, s c in next st, repeat from * all around, break yarn. Work around other leg to correspond.
CORD. Crochet a ch about 25 inches long, s c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, s c in next st of ch, repeat from * across ch, break yarn. Lace cord through eyelets and finish with tassels.
TASSELS. Wind 15 strands of yarn over a 2 inch cardboard, cut one end, tie in center then tie about ½ inch down.
