Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"STAR" PEARL COTTON SIZE 5
2 60-yd. Balls White.
2 60-yd. Balls Pink.
1 Yd. each of "Star" 6 strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton Red and Black.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.

With Pink, ch 3, 6 s c in 1st st of ch, join.
2nd Row–2 s c in each s c, do not join this or following rows.
3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 12th Rows–1 s c in each s c.
4th Row–Repeat 2nd row.
6th, 8th, 9th Rows–Increase in every 3rd st.
13th Row–Increase in every 5th st.
14th to 17th Rows–Repeat 3rd row.
18th Row–Repeat 13th row.
19th to 25th Rows–Repeat 3rd row, break thread.
Attach White and work 17 rows even.
43rd Row–Decrease every 5th st. To decrease insert hook in st and pull loop through leaving loop on hook, insert hook in next st and pull loop through, thread over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Work 2 rows even.
46th Row–Repeat 43rd row, and work 4 rows even.
51st Row–Decrease 3 sts in row and work 2 rows even.
54th Row–Repeat 43rd row.
55th Row–Repeat 3rd row, and repeat last 2 rows once. Break thread. Fill with Cotton or Kapok.
58th Row–Attach Pink and work one row even.
Next 3 Rows–Decrease every 5th st and work 5 rows even.
67th Row–Decrease every 5th st.
68th Row–Decrease every 4th st. Fill with Cotton or Kapok as necessary.
69th Row–Decrease every 3rd st. Next Row–Decrease every 2nd st and then sew opening together. Finish top with pompoms.
LEG. With Pink ch 3, work 6 s c in 1st ch, join.
2nd Row–2 s c in each s c. Do not join this or following rows.
3rd Row–* 2 s c in s c, 1 s c in next s c. Repeat from *. Work 5 rows even. Break thread.
9th Row–Attach White and work 14 rows even, leave an end to sew to body. Work another leg.
ARM. With Pink, ch 3, 6 s c in 1st ch.
Next Row–2 s c in each s c. Then work 5 rows even. Break thread. Attach White and work 10 rows even, and leave an end to sew to body. Work a second arm.
Crochet a row of s c on first row of Pink for hat. Embroider face as illustrated using Red for mouth and Black for nose, eyes and eyebrows.
