"DAWN" SAXONY TYPE YARN OR "DAWN" BABY YARN
White, Baby Blue, Blue, Pink, Med. Pink or Baby Pastels
Entire set–6 ¾-oz. Balls.
Cap and Sacque–5 ¾-oz. Balls.
Cap and Booties–2 ¾-oz. Balls.
2 yards 1 inch ribbon and 4 yards of narrow ribbon.
1 Ball of Color will be sufficient for entire set.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 1.

SACQUE 2001

YOKE. Ch 82, d c in 4th st from hook (the ch 3 at beginning of row counts as 1 d c), 1 d c in each of the next 13 sts, 5 d c in next st (seam st), 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts, 5 d c in next st (seam), 1 d c in each of the next 30 sts, 5 d c in next st (seam st), 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts, 5 d c in next st (seam), 1 d c in each of the next 15 sts, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row–Work 1 d c in each d c to center seam st, 5 d c in center seam st, 1 d c in each d c to next center st, 5 d c in center seam st and continue in same manner across row, work 5 d c in each center seam st.
Work 6 more rows in same manner always working 5 d c in center seam st. There should be 208 d c across last row.
Next Row–Shell pattern, ch 3, 4 d c in same space, skip 2 d c, s c in next d c, * ch 3, skip 2 d c, 5 d c in next d c, skip 2 d c, s c in next d c, repeat from * 3 times, ch 3, 5 d c in center seam st, s c in next center seam st, repeat between * 10 times, ch 3, shell in center seam st, s c in next center seam st, repeat between * 5 times, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row–1 d c in same space, skip 4 d c of shell in previous row, s c in last d c, * ch 3, 5 d c in s c of previous row, skip 4 d c of shell, s c in last d c of shell in previous row and repeat from * across row and repeat 2nd row until there are 25 rows of shells or work measures about 7 inches without stretching, then work 2 rows of shells in color.
SLEEVES. Join yarn in center seam st, ch 3, 4 d c in same space, * skip 2 d c, s c in next d c, ch 3, skip 2 d c, 5 d c in next d c, repeat from * 6 times, s c between shells at underarm, d c in 3rd st of ch 3 of 1st shell, * ch 3, turn, shell in s c and continue pattern ending row with a d c in 3rd st of ch 3 of 1st shell, repeat from * until sleeve measures 6½ inches and work 2 rows of shells in color.
Around neck, with Color work a row of s c then work beading as follows: ch 4, * skip 2 s c, d c in next s c, ch 2, d c in next s c, repeat from *. Lace ribbon through beading.

CAP 2001

With White, ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3, 11 d c into ring, join, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row–2 d c in each d c, (ch 3 counts as 1 d c) join, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row–1 d c in next d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from beginning all around, join, ch 3, turn.
4th Row–1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from beginning, join, ch 3, turn. Work 5 more rows having 1 more st between increasing points, ch 3, turn.
10th Row–Work 1 d c in each d c omitting the last 18 sts in row, ch 3, turn and work 13 more rows on these sts, then work 8 rows of shell pattern, break yarn and with color work 2 rows of pattern. With White, beginning at the turnback, work 2 rows of s c around lower edge of cap. Finish with ribbon as illustrated.

BOOTIES 2001

With White. Ch 20, 3 s d c in 3rd st from hook, 1 s d c in each of the next 16 sts, 3 s d c in last st, 1 s d c in each of the 16 sts on opposite side of ch, join each row.
2nd Row–Ch 2, 1 s d c in same st, 2 s d c in each of the next 3 s d c, 1 s d c in each of the next 16 s d c, 2 s d c in each of the next 4s d c, 1 s d c in each remaining st.
3rd Row–Ch 2, 1 s d c in same st, 2 s d c in each of the next 5 s d c, 1 s d c in each of the next 17 s d c, 2 s d c in each of the next 6 s d c, 1 s d c in each remaining st.
4th Row–1 s d c in each st.
5th Row–Ch 2 and work 1 d c in each st taking up the back loop and ridge of s d c.
6th Row–1 s d c in each d c, break yarn.
INSTEP. Fold work in half, attach Color in 5th st from end st, ch 1 and work 1 s d c in each of the next 9 s d c, skip 1 s d c of sole, sl st in next s d c, ch 1, turn, * 1 s d c in each s d c, skip 1 s d c of sole and sl st in next st, ch 1, turn and repeat from * until there are 10 rows of s d c on instep, end row with a sl st and break yarn.
Attach White in center st of heel, ch 3 and work 1 d c in each st to instep, 1 s c in each st of instep and 1 d c in each remaining st, join, ch 3 and repeat this row once. Work 8 rows of shell pattern same as sacque ending each row with a d c in 3rd st of ch 3 of 1st shell, ch 3 and turn each row, break yarn. With Color work 2 rows of shell pattern. Lace ribbon through top of booties as illustrated.

Bone Crochet Hook No. 1.

With White. Ch 48, join and work 1 s c in each ch, join.
Next Row–Ch 1, 1 s c in each s c, do not join this row.
Continue to work 1 s c in each s c without joining rows until mitten measures 2¼ inches.
Next Row–* 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, insert hook in next st and pull through, insert hook in next st and pull through, yarn over and pull through the 3 loops on hook thus decreasing a st, repeat from * all around and work 1 row even. Repeat the last 2 rows twice.
Next Row–Decrease every other st, break yarn leaving an end to sew. Thread into needle and sew top together.
CUFF. Attach Pink at bottom of mitten and work a row of s c all around.
Next Row–Ch 4 * skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, ch 1, repeat from * all around (24 meshes), join, turn.
Next Row–Ch 3, 4 d c in same space, * skip 1 d c, s c in next d c, ch 3, skip 1 d c, 5 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around, ending row as follows, skip 1 d c, s c in next d c, ch 3, join.
Next Row–Turn, * ch 3, 5 d c in s c of previous row, skip 4 d c of shell of previous row, s c in last d c of shell, repeat from * all around and work 2 more rows of shells, break yarn. Work another mitten in same manner. Lace ribbon through beading.
