MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30, 3 balls (Small Balls) of White … J. & P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70, 1 ball of Blue … J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 1 ball of Orange … Steel Crochet Hooks No. 10 and No. 14.
Doily measures 11 x 16 inches
Starting at one side, with White and No. 10 hook make a chain 17 inches long (15 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 2 tr in 5th ch from hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), skip 8 ch, sc in next ch, * (ch 5 and complete a cluster as before in 5th ch from hook) twice; skip 5 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures 15½ inches, ending with an sc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 11, turn. 2nd row: Make a 2-tr cluster in 5th ch from hook, sc between first 2 clusters, * (ch 5 and complete a cluster in 5th ch from hook) twice; skip 2 clusters, sc between the 2nd cluster skipped and the following cluster. Repeat from * across, ending with 2 clusters, skip last 2 clusters, sc in next st. Ch 11, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 10½ inches. Ch 8 to turn at end of last row. Next row: Sc between first 2 clusters, * ch 5, skip 2 clusters, sc between the 2nd cluster skipped and the following cluster. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 5, skip last 2 clusters, sc in next ch. Now work 2 rnds of sc closely around outer edges, making sc’s as necessary at corners to keep work flat and joining each rnd. 3rd rnd: * Sc in next 5 sc, ch 5, sc in 5th ch from hook (picot made). Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
FORGET-ME-NOT (Make 100) … Starting at center with Blue and No. 14 hook, ch 5, 2 tr in 5th ch from hook, ch 4, sc in same place, (ch 4, 2 tr in same place, ch 4, sc in same place) 3 times. Break off.
Tack Forget-me-nots in place on doily at joinings of clusters as in illustration, making a French knot with Orange Pearl Cotton through center of each flower. Starch lightly and press.
