Double Crochet and Knot Stitch Collar Pattern #43

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting & Crochet Cotton, 1 ball. 2 Milward's steel crochet hooks Nos. 4 and 8.

   For a daintier collar, select Mercerized Crochet, 4 balls of Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats, size 30.
   Begin with No. 4 crochet hook. Make ch to fit the neck loosely, turn. 1 st row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, and 1 d c in each st of foundation ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd to 12th rows incl: Make 11 more rows of d c with 6 increases at regular intervals to each row, but not one over another. (To make an increase, make 2 d c in 1 st.) 13th row: With No. 8 hook * make 2 knot sts, skip 3 sts of preceding row, s c in next, and continue from * to end of row. 14th row: Make 2⅜-inch knot sts to turn, * s c over double loop at right of first knot of preceding row, s c over double loop at left of same knot, and continue knot sts from * to end of row. 15th row: With No. 4 hook, ch 5, * s c over double loop at right of first knot of preceding row, s c over double loop at left of same knot, ch 2, s c over double loop at right of next knot, s c over double loop at left of same knot, ch 2, s c over double loop at right of following knot, s c over double loop at left of same knot, ch 3, and repeat from * to end of row, ending with ch 3, turn. 16th row: Work 1 d c in each st, making 6 increases at equal intervals. 17th to 23rd rows incl: D c over d c with 6 increases to a row. Then repeat from beginning of 13th row two more times.

Roll Collar. Then attach thread at first st of foundation ch, and make 1 d c in each st. Ch 3, turn. Work 10 or 12 rows of d c. Fasten off thread.
