Crocheted Cape Pattern #45

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting & Crochet Cot­ton, 4 balls. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 3.

   To begin, ch 130, turn. 1st row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 14 sts of ch, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 d c in next, ch 1, 1 d c in same st, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 d c in each of the next 16 sts, and repeat from * to end of ch. Row will end with a group of 16 d c, and there will be 7 groups. Ch 3, (always to count as 1 d c at beginning of next row) turn. 2nd row: 1 d c in each d c of group. * 1 d c under ch-1 (this is an increase), ch 1, 1 d c under next ch-1, ch 1, 1 d c under same ch-1, ch 1. 1 d c under next ch-1 (this is an increase), 1 d c in each d c of next group of d c, and repeat from * to end of row. Ch 3, turn.
   Repeat 2nd row for 22 rows, making 2 increases between every group (12 increases to a row). This much of the cape should reach to the shoulder edge. Work 20 more rows with no increases under each ch-1.
   Finish neck edge with 2 rows of s c.
   Make 2 ch-8 loops on right side of cape at neck, and on left side sew on two buttons (these may be covered with s c to match cape).
