Rose Corner for Handkerchief Pattern #7407

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" TATTING COTTON, ARTICLE 25
1—Ball Shaded Pinks or any Color desired
1—Ball Green
1—Handkerchief Hemstitched
Steel Crochet Hook No. 13.

ROSE: With Shaded Pink ch 7, join to form a ring, * ch 4, s c in ring, repeat from * 7 times (8 loops).
2nd Row—Ch 1 and work 1 s c, 4 d c, 1 s c over each loop, join.
3rd Row—* Ch 5, sl st between next 2 petals in back of work, repeat from * 7 times.
4th Row—Ch 1 and over each loop work 1 s c, 6 d c, 1 s c, join, break thread. Work another rose in same manner joining center of 1 petal to center of any petal of 1st rose. Work a 3rd rose in same manner joining center of any petal to previous rose skipping 1 petal of 2nd rose made between joinings.
Measure 1 inch on each side from corner of handkerchief and draw a line diagonally, turn under and with Green work 25 s c over the folded edge, then cut remainder of corner away from underneath as illustrated; work a row of s c around remainder of handkerchief working 3 s c in each corner.
Next Row—Ch 2 and with right side of roses facing toward you, s c in center of 3rd petal to right of joining, ch 2, skip 2 s c on handkerchief, s c in next s c, ch 2, s c in center of next petal of same rose, ch 2, skip 2 s c on handkerchief, s c in next s c, * ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * once, ch 5, 2 tr c in 5th st from hook leaving last loop of each tr c on hook, thread over and pull through all loops at one time (a rice st), s c in center of next petal of same rose, work a rice st, s c in center of free petal of next rose, work a rice st, s c in center of 1st free petal of next rose, work a rice st, sl st in same s c on handkerchief, * ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * once, * ch 2, join to center of next petal of same rose, ch 2, skip 2 sts on handkerchief, s c in next s c, repeat from * once, * ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to corner having an even number of loops on side, ch 5, s c in same space (corner), * ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * around next 2 sides having an uneven number of loops working next 2 corners same as previous corner, work 4th side same as 1st side, break thread.
Next Row—With right side of handkerchief toward you, attach Shaded Pink in 1st loop to left of rose, ch 3, 2 d c in same space, keeping last loop of each d c on hook, thread over and pull through all loops at one time, * ch 4, s c in next loop, ch 4, cluster st in next loop (cluster st: 3 d c in same space keeping last loop of each d c on hook, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), repeat from * all around to opposite side of rose, break thread, do not turn.
Next Row—Attach Shaded Pink in 1st free petal of rose to left of corner, ch 2, sl st in top of cluster st, ch 4, sl st in same space for picot, * ch 5, sl st in next s c, ch 5, sl st in top of next cluster st, ch 4, sl st in same space for picot, repeat from * around to opposite side of rose, break thread.
