Lace measures 10½ inches deep. One pattern measures 10 inches wide; completed alb measures 3 yds. 2 in. in circumference.

MATERIALS:
Choose one of the following threads in White, size 30:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, 16 balls.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 12 balls.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 6 balls.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 9.

GAUGE: 5 sps make 1 inch; 5 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at short side, ch 149 (15 chain sts to 1 inch). 1st row: D c in 8th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in each of next 4 ch (2 sps and 1 bl); 43 sps, d c in each of next 6 ch (2 bls). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 2 bls, 28 sps, d c in each of next 2 ch, d c in next d c (1 bl); 14 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: 2 sps, 1 bl, 8 sps, 1 bl, 4 sps, 1 bl, 17 sps, 1 bl, 11 sps, 2 bls. Ch 5, turn. Now, starting at 4th row, follow chart until 6 rows are completed. Ch 5, turn. 7th row: 2 sps, 1 bl, 10 sps, 2 bls, 4 sps, 6 bls, 5 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 2 bls, 13 sps, d c in each of next 2 d c, make a foundation d c—to make a foundation d c, thread over, insert hook in 3rd st of turning ch, thread over and draw loop through; thread over and draw through 1 loop, thus making a chain st; complete as for a d c. Make 2 more foundation d c by inserting hook in ch of previous d c; then make 1 d c in the usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 5, turn. Now, starting at 8th row, follow chart until 21 rows are completed; turn. 22nd row: Sl st in each of 4 d c, ch 3 and make 2 bls, 13 sps, 2 bls, 6 sps, 2 bls, 5 sps, 2 bls, 3 sps, 2 bls, 10 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps. Ch 5, turn. Hereafter, starting at 23rd row, follow chart to top. Then repeat entire design 10 more times. Fasten off. Sew the two short sides together.
