MATERIALS: Kentucky All Purpose Yarn, No. 301: 10 skeins white, 2 red, 2 black
Steel Crochet Hook No. 0
GAUGE: 5 sc = 1"
PLACE MAT: Ch 89. Sc in 2d ch from hook, and 1 sc in each st across (88 sts), ch 1, turn. Continue working back and forth in sc until piece measures 10½". Break yarn, fasten off. Napkin Cuff: Ch 21. Sc in 2d ch from hook, and 1 sc in each ch across (20 sts), ch 1, turn. Continue working back and forth in sc for 14 rows. Break yarn, fasten off. Finishing: Following chart, embroider one symbol on center of each napkin cuff. Sew cuff in place as shown. Cut 3" strands of red and black yarn for fringe. Alternating black and red, knot fringe around entire place mat and on open ends of napkin cuff.
CENTERPIECE:Ch 55. Sc in 2d ch from hook, and 1 sc in each st across (58 sts), ch 1, turn. Continue working back and forth in sc until piece measures 10½". Break yarn, fasten off. Embroider one symbol on each side as shown. Add fringe as on place mat.
