Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
Scraps of pink, purple, green, white, red and black felt … Cotton batting.

GAUGE: 5 sc make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.

BODY—First Half … Starting at bot­tom, ch 16. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 11, turn. 3rd row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch and in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 16, turn. 5th row: Repeat 3rd row. 6th row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 7th to 15th rows incl: Repeat 6th row. 16th row: Sc in next 13 sc. Ch 1, turn. 17th row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 13 for muzzle, turn. 18th row: Repeat 3rd row. 19th to 28th rows incl: Repeat 6th row. 29th row: Sc in next 17 sc. Ch 1, turn. 30th to 33rd rows incl: Repeat 6th row. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 33rd row. Make Second Half in same manner.
   Holding pieces together and work­ing through both thicknesses, sc closely around, stuffing before open­ing becomes too small. Join and break off. Cut legs, tail and ears from pink felt. Sew leg pieces to­gether and stuff. Fold tail length­wise, sew and stuff. Sew legs and tail in place. Make a single fold at end of ears and sew in place. Cut eye whites from white felt, pupils from green, nose from black and tongue from red. Sew in place, folding nose over edge of muzzle. With pinking shears, cut two ½ inch wide strips from purple felt, 5½ and 2½ inches long respectively and one piece 2½ x 4½ inches for saddle. Place 5½ inch strip around neck for collar and sew. Place saddle across back and remaining strip under body. Sew strip to saddle at sides.
