MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 20 balls of White or Ecru, or 32 balls of any color.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE: 3 sps make 1¼ inches; 3 rows make 1¼ inches. Each block measures about 17 inches square after blocking. Completed tablecloth measures about 70 x 87 inches.

BLOCK … Starting at center, ch 11, tr in 11th ch from hook. Now work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr over bar of last tr, tr in same ch where first tr of ring was made, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr in ring, tr in 4th ch of ring, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr in ring (under next 3 ch of ring). Tr in next ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr in ring, tr in 1st tr made (at base of ch-4). Ch 7, sl st in 4th ch of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 4 tr, * 4 tr in corner space, ch 7, 4 tr in same corner space, tr in next 5 tr. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of ch-4. 3rd rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 8 tr, * in corner space make 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr; tr in next 13 tr. Repeat from * around, ending with tr in 4 tr. Join as before. 4th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 4 tr, ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next 5 tr, * in corner space make 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr; tr in next 5 tr, (ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next 5 tr) twice. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3 and sl st. 5th rnd: Ch 7 (to count as tr and 3 ch), skip 3 tr, tr in next tr, ch 3, tr in next tr, * ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next 5 tr, in corner space make 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr; tr in next 5 tr, (ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr, ch 3, tr in next tr) twice. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to 4th st of ch-7 first made. Starting at 6th rnd (indicated by "X" on chart), follow chart until block is completed. Fasten off.
   Make 4 x 5 blocks and sew them together on wrong side with neat over-and-over stitches.

EDGING … 1st rnd: Attach thread to a tr, ch 4, and work tr in each tr and 3 tr in each space all around. At corners, make 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr. Join with sl st. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 4, make tr in each tr around, making 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr in each corner. Join and fasten off. Block cloth to measurements given.
