This amount is sufficient for 1 pair of curtains. When completed, each curtain measures about 90 x 50 inches, and each tie-back about 16 x 2½ inches, excluding ruffle.

Gauge: 5 sps make 1 inch; 5 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at bottom, make a chain to measure about 55 inches, turn. 1st row: D c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (2 sps made). Repeat from * across until 250 sps are made. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Make sp over sp across. Ch 5, turn. Repeat the last row until piece measures 92 inches. Break off.

Ruffle. Attach thread to one end of a 50-inch side and work along 3 sides of curtain (2 short and 1 long) as follows: 1st row: * (Ch 7, s c in next sp) 7 times, ch 7, s c in same sp. Repeat from * across, making an extra ch-7 loop at each corner sp. Ch 7, turn. 2nd to 15th rows incl: S c in 1st loop, * ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across, always making an extra loop in corner loops of each row. Break off. Fold over 1 short end of curtain to make a 2-inch casing for rod, having ruffle fall on right side. Sew in place. Make another curtain same as this.

Tie-Backs. Make a chain to measure about 20 inches, and work as for curtain for 2½ inches, having 80 sps on row. Make ruffle same as for curtain. Make another tie-back same as this.
