Use thread double throughout. Bag is made in one piece, which is whipped together across bottom and down one side. Beginning at bottom of bag, with Green, ch 11, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each st of ch, ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in each s c, 2 s c in last s c, ch 1, turn. 3rd row: S c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
4th to 11th rows incl: Alternate 2nd and 3rd rows, thus increasing at one end only. 12th and 13th rows: Same as 3rd. 14th row: S c in each s c, except last (to decrease). Turn. 15th row: S c in each st across, ch 1, turn. 16th to 19th rows incl: Alternate 14th and 15th rows. 20th, 21st and 22nd rows: Same as 15th. Repeat from beginning of 3rd row until 8 points are made.
Work 5 rows of s c along points as follows: 1st row: With Green, work a row of s c making * 9 s c up one side of point, s c at tip, 9 s c down other side of same point. Repeat from * across. Break off and attach Autumn Glow, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: * S c in each s c, 2 s c at tip, s c in each s c down other side of point, working off 9th s c of this side and 1st s c of next point together (as 1 st). Repeat from * across. Break off and attach Linen.
4th and 5th rows: Work same as 2nd. 6th row: Attach Autumn Glow, ch 4 (to count as tr). * 1 tr in each of next 2 s c, 1 d c in each of next 3 sts, 1 half d c in each of next 2 s c, 1 s c in next s c, s c in next (this must be at tip), 1 s c in next s c, 1 half d c in each of next 2 s c, 1 d c in each of next 3 s c, 1 tr in each of next 3 s c, tr in next s c (this is beginning of next point). Repeat from * across, ch 3, turn. 7th row: Skip 1 st, s c in next, * ch 1, skip next st, s c in next. Repeat from * across, ch 3, turn.
8th row: S c under ch-1 of previous row, * ch 1, s c under next ch-1. Repeat from * across, ch 3, turn. Repeat 8th row, working rather loosely, for about 36 rows. Then ch 2, turn and s c in each s c and s c under each ch-1 of previous row. Break off. Hereafter work s c in each s c of previous row as follows: 2 rows of Linen, 2 rows of Autumn Glow, 9 rows of Green. Break off. Fold work, sew up side and across bottom.
Handles: (2) With Green, ch 6 turn, sc in 2nd ch from book, s c in each st of ch. Ch 1, turn and make s c in each s c back and forth until strip measures 10 inches long. Break off. Sew to bag as in illustration.
